Specialized S-Works Torch
The unisex S-Works Torch finds its form and function courtesy of Specialized’s renowned Body Geometry and RETÜL fit data. If you’re looking for the ultimate foot stability and comfort, the Torch’s wider base plate, asymmetric heel cup, laterally shifted BOA® dials, and internal I-Beam give your foot all the support it needs and make it the most comfortable model in the S-Works lineup that we’ve experienced.

Shimano RC903 S-PHYRE
The cream of the crop from Shimano makes some subtle enhancements from its predecessor, including the much appreciated roomier upper as well as modest weight savings. Men’s and women’s specific sizing and colors help ensure you get the exact fit and style you’re after this summer.

Lake CX332
Lake’s shoes tend to fit wider, compared to shoes from Shimano and Giro, and if you’ve felt compressed in those brands or know you have wide feet, you’ll find slipper-like fit in a premium race-ready package with the unisex CX332. The out-of-the-box comfort is real, and for an all-leather upper, we found the CX332 to be very breathable.

Fi’zi:k Vento Stabilita
Arch stability is the primary focus for the unisex Vento Stabilita, and if you’ve had plantar pain in seasons past, this may be the best shoe for you. The arch support wraps from the carbon sole and binds to the instep strap for fully adjustable comfort on every mile. Fi’zi:k can feel narrow to some riders, but we found the fit comfortable and similar to the S-Works Torch. More like a solid handshake than constrictive.

Sidi Wire 2 Carbon
Sidi’s shoes are known for their construction, and both men’s and women’s versions of the Wire 2 Carbon stand out here. In hand, it feels built to last, and it’s easy to see how Sidi’s shoes can withstand a decade or more on the pedals. The Wire 2 Carbon is a signature design with a premium carbon sole and tons of high-tech bits we love: replaceable closures and heel pads, and open/close ventilation ports on the sole. The race fit can be narrow, so chat with a Gearhead for best sizing recommendations.

PEARL iZUMi Pro Air
This year’s unisex Pro Air steps up with a BOA® dial closure to position it as a fierce competitor to the other premium racing shoes on our list. The lightweight mesh upper keeps the pair airy, while the sculpted heel cup and dual-density footbed boost comfort and stability mile after mile.
