Customers who purchase complete bikes from us are (understandably) quite concerned about our ability to ship their bikes safely. We have designed a rather ingenious system for shipping bicycles that makes them nearly impervious to damage in transit. On very rare occasions, though, such damage can occur. Please note that if damage occurs to your bicycle in shipping, we must file the claim on our end. You MUST keep all original packaging. Please contact a Gearhead with any questions about how our complete bikes are shipped!
Estimated Shipping Timelines
Orders placed before 3pm MST will generally ship the same day. Orders placed over the weekend or on recognized holidays will generally ship the next business day.
For standard shipping, orders will typically arrive 3-5 business days from the date of shipment.
For economy shipping, orders will typically arrive 5-10 business days from the date of shipment.
Delivery arrival times are estimates only and may change based on order volume or other circumstances, like weather-related delays. If we encounter any unexpected delays in shipping, we’ll contact you via email.
Next Day orders must be placed by 12:00 MST in order to guarantee same day shipment and next day delivery.
Free Shipping Offers
If your order exceeds a certain amount, as periodically advertised on our sites, you may qualify for free shipping. For example, we may offer free shipping on orders over $50. Free shipping offers are applied to the order total after any promotions or credits are applied, exclusive of takes and other fees. If this option is available, you will see it advertised on our sites and the available free shipping method will be pre-selected at checkout for your convenience. Free shipping offers may be modified or terminated at any time without notice.
Exclusions from Estimated Shipping Timelines and Free Shipping Offers
Estimated Shipping Timelines and Free Shipping Offers do not apply to:
- Products shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, and international orders
- PO boxes & APO addresses
- Pre-orders or back orders
- Items that must be sent by ground or freight because they are oversized, hazardous, or flammable as identified on the product page. (Examples include, but are not limited to: complete bikes, bike frames, bike wheels, travel cases, ABS airbag packs or cylinders, kayaks, kayak trailers, SUP boards, surfboards, crash pads, cargo boxes, car racks, truck bed storage, indoor bike trainers, rooftop tents, and items containing lithium batteries.)
Shipping Restrictions by Delivery Method
Certain hazardous or flammable products, like those containing lithium batteries or compressed air, can only be shipped via ground delivery and are only able to be shipped to the contiguous United States, they cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, any US territories, or internationally.
Certain oversized items can only be shipped via freight. Oversized freight items include, but are not limited to: complete bikes, bike frames, bike wheels, travel cases, kayaks, kayak trailers, SUP boards, surfboards, crash pads, cargo boxes, car racks, truck bed storage, indoor bike trainers, and rooftop tents. For products with these restrictions, only available shipping options will surface at checkout. Freight items can only be shipped to the contiguous United States, they cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, any US territories, or internationally.
Shipping Restrictions by Location
We cannot ship certain products to some jurisdictions because of local regulatory restrictions. For instance, we cannot ship certain products containing per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”) to a limited number of states. Vermont, for example, restricts sales on ski waxes containing PFAS. California restricts sales on certain juvenile products containing PFAS. If the product you wish to purchase is subject to a sale restriction in the state to which you want to ship the product and an exception to that sales restriction does not apply, we will notify you in account checkout.
We are also prohibited from shipping certain brands outside of the United States or to specific countries. You can find the list of brands that restrict sales to certain jurisdictions here.
Customers may utilize package forwarders in their discretion. Backcountry and its partners cannot be held liable for any damage that may occur after the items are delivered to the shipping address provided at the time of purchase.
We can sell and ship some goods internationally, depending on the destination and product. You can find a list of countries we can ship products to here.
Unfortunately, we can’t ship to Switzerland or states in the EU or EEA.
For all international shipments, your order will be subject to applicable customs, tariffs, duties, and any required taxes.
