The Wire was Sidi's top shoe for a number of years until the relatively recent release of their range-topping Shot. Now, the Wire sees some updates that improve fit and comfort while giving the shoe a sharp new look. Like the Shot, the Wire 2 Carbon Cycling Shoe has the lower dial relocated to the top of the tongue for a more comfortable fit with equal tension across the whole foot. The instep strap is a bit narrower too, with improved flexibility and the addition of padded edges to further improve comfort.

Heavenly Fit!

Literally I feel with these Wire 2s that my feet are floating in the air. Knew I was bumping up a notch in cycling foot wear but no idea HOW next level the fit and feel would be. It’s a whole new ballgame now as I train for the upcoming Century. Drop everything and get a pair just like these. Transformational!!

Maybe not so repairable?

I've had the Sidi Wire 2 Carbon since 2019. The shoes are fabulous. Size 45 fits my 10-1/2 to 11 US feet just fine, with sufficient toe box clearance for fat toes. I've ridden them in winter with booties, blazing hot summer rides, and drenching downpours, and my feet have been happy all along. Now, after 4 years, the lower cable on the right shoe is wearing through. The buckles with cables are replaceable, but I have not been able to find the correct replacement on the entire internet! Sidi does not ship outside the EU. Very disappointing for expensive shoes that should last a lot longer than 4 years. If I end up having to buy a new pair of shoes because the "laces" wore out, you can be sure they will not be another pair of Sidi's.

Outstanding shoe, yet different

I needed to replace 15 year old Specialized shoes, black leather with carbon sole. Like I said, they are 15 years old. Shoes have changed since then, and there are no leather shoes available. So I opted for Sidi and moved away from Specialized. The biggest change was going to a synthetic leather; so I started with the Genius. It just didn't feel good on my foot, size 42, so I decided to bite the bullet and go more expensive. Hence the Wire 2. This shoe was more comfy and felt more like a stiff leather shoe. Yes it isn't the same, but my foot liked it. I have ridden in it 6 times and feel good about the choice. The matte grey is SICK. The Techno closure is easy; just watch a few YouTube videos to figure it out. Piece of cake. The adjustable heel is also easy and I definitely feel the snug fit. I ride modest miles on an Orbea, yet these shoes make me feel like a pro :). The cost is an issue for most, but these were a gift from my wife and I couldn't turn that offer down. If affordable, try these out !!! PS - I always wear wool/blend socks. In addition, I added a cheap thin insole to go underneath the Sidi insole to give me a little extra padding on the foot. I've ordered Specialixed blue insoles as well and will try these to enhance the feel of these shoes.

Best Road Shoes I've Ever Owned

I needed to replace my very old Shimano road shoes. I tried several different brands/models. I really liked the Alba shoe from Sidi and almost selected those; however, Competitive Cyclist had the Wire 2 on sale. I really like the double adjustment dial and the option to fine tune the heel adjustment. The fit is fantastic and comfortable. Extremely happy with my purchase. Please note, I have (or thought I had) a wide foot with a high instep. The Sidi Wire 2 and Alba regular width are MORE than enough to accommodate my foot. I tried the "Mega" version of the Alba...WOW! That version is very wide and my foot was swimming around. My advice, unless you know for a FACT that your foot is wide, stick with the regular width of any Sidi shoe. You can't go wrong.

Not a fan of the new dial on the tongue

I've really liked all my previous Sidi shoes, but I do not like the new dial position on the tongue across the center of the mid-foot. The plastic dial attachment on the center of the mid-foot became a pressure point across the bones of the top of my foot/arch (I have a more prominent 1st tarsometatarsal joint). Even putting the shoes on for 1 minute while sitting on the couch was uncomfortable. Sadly, I have to return. If not for this, the shoes felt amazing like every other pair of Sidi's I have had for the last 10 years

No Reason to Switch from Sidi

I've been wearing Sidi shoes since I first started, and these replace a pair of Genius 6.6's from 2011. Could I have tried a different shoe? Of course, but I was pretty confident that the Wire 2's would just "work," based on my past experience, and I haven't been let down. I did take the suggestion from other reviews that I read, and I ordered the next size higher (43.5 instead of 43.0), and my new shoes fit perfectly. I have ridden about 800 miles with these new shoes, and I have't felt any pinching or discomfort. They also feel more efficient than my older shoes, and I'm not sure if that is just because they are newer, but the closures seem to hold everything just tighter, but not uncomfortably so. There were less expensive options available to me when I made my purchase, but I have no regrets.

Usual Sidi Quality; Some Minor Quirks

I have been a Sidi user for over twenty years. My appreciation has never wavered, and I have tried many other brands. These are replacements for the previous version of there Wire that are still going strong--just looking a little bedraggled after many miles. And I couldn't resist the navy blue. Add in a generous CC discount and I jumped. Stiffness and pedal interface/power transfer is phenomenal. Despite this, they are comfortable, even for wider forefeet like mine. And they keep getting more comfortable as the miles rack-up. Of course, you'll want to replace the stock insoles, at least if you have higher arches, but that's true with any shoe. In my experience, the Sidi dial system is far superior to Boas which, from time to time, tend to loosen a notch when they're cranked down. These are rock solid, even after years of almost daily use, as is the case with my other Wires. Yes, they are a bit more complicated than Boas, especially when worn with overshoes. Any other time, there's an easy workaround: just leave the dial's push-button covers in the open position. Not that it's a total pain either way--more a matter of getting used to them. The repositioning of the front dial to the center of the tongue doesn't seem to make a whole lot of difference vs the previous version, although it might. But it lacks the small fingerhold that allows for maximum expansion when exiting the shoe. Now, I have to slide a fingertip under the tongue itself. Not a deal-breaker by a long shot. There are two other slight negatives that were also present in the previous Wires: they are a tad on the heavy side and they don't breathe as well as some other shoes. On hot days, the material around the heel and under the tongue retains moisture, to the point where I feel compelled to blot those areas with a paper towel, remove the insoles, and direct a fan at/into them (no heat) to prevent against possible musty stink/mold growth. This doesn't bother me one bit; given the shoe's stunning performance, comfort (and yes, 'bling') I'm more than okay with these concessions. If you're thinking of getting a pair but are holding off due to negative reviews, etc., I would recommend giving them a shot anyway. Make sure you get the size right, first and foremost, and don't return them right away if they don't immediately feel like magic slippers. They take a while to break in although, for me, this version was spot-on, right out of the box this time around. And don't be put off too much by the price. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for; Sidis are quite literally a lifetime investment.

Years ago, I splurged on a pair of Sidi Genius 4 shoes, after having several pairs of other brands. They were something of a revelation. Even then, most other shoes in their price category had carbon soles and flashier uppers. However, the Sidis just worked, and worked for about a decade, through a couple of different bikes and pedal systems, as well as several periods of inactivity. Their Lorica uppers were comfortable from the start and wore like iron. I replaced the heels a couple of times, as well as one of the ratcheting buckles. When I got back on the bike after a layoff a couple of years ago, I realized that my trusty old Genius 4s had seen better days and decided to get a new pair of shoes. I bought a pair of one down from the top Shimano road shoes on sale. The Shimanos were fine. They were light, and probably stiffer than the old Sidis; they came with nice insoles and a couple of different arch inserts and the ability to heat mold to your foot. I didn't have any real complaints, other than an occasional numbness in my left foot. However, after less than two years, the Shimanos were ready to pack it in. The heel pad was cracking on both shoes and delaminating from the heel counter (which itself was peeling). Of course, neither of those are replaceable, so I looked to getting new shoes. As a splurge, I got these Sidi Wire 2s for Christmas. At first, I thought I might have made a mistake. They were much stiffer all around than I recall my old Genius 4s. The new upper "Techpro" materials didn't feel as comfy as the older Lorica. However, after a week of riding (about 120 miles over four rides) they were starting to feel like the Genius 4s I remembered and loved. About 600 miles in now, and they fit like a glove. I don't remember the Genius 4s having a break in period at all, but these definitely do. They also appear to be the best-made cycling shoes I've had, both in terms of materials and build quality. No sloppy stitching here! I chose these over the Shot (the Shot 2 wasn't out yet) primarily because my relatively narrow, low volume foot likes the way the instep closure strap across the top of the shoe locks in my foot. I figured if they last as long as my old Genius 4s, the extra money paid (over the current Genius 10 or Ergo 5) is well worth it for a top of the line product. They are stiff, comfy, and secure, and, IMHO, manage to look both "high-tech" and "classic" at the same time! A word on sizing -- both these and my Genius 4s are/were 45. Sizing seems pretty similar to my recollection of the Genius 4, with perhaps a bit more height in the very front of the toebox. For reference, my Shimano shoes are a 44.5. I wear a size 11 Nike or Brooks running shoe, and a size 10 dress shoe (Alden).

Initial pain in ankles goes away

Similar to Douglas S, I have been using the shoes for about 2 weeks now, and the tongue and in-step closure are digging into the front of both ankles enough to cause pain and tenderness while riding. I'm told by several others this pain goes away as the tongue gets software with use, so I'm willing to ride it out. Funny this has never been an issue with my previous Sidi's which I've used for 11 years. Excepting this, the carbon sole is plenty stiff and has reduced the pain in my arches. And the shoes look super nice and are comfortable otherwise. Roll forward 2 months, and I really love the shoes. The pain in the ankles has gone away, as the shoe has become softer. It just needed to be worn a little. The power transfer is superb with the carbon soles. The shoes are comfortable and look awesome. I am upgrading my review from 3 to 5 stars. The only thing that sidi can work on is improving the cable tightening system which is less intuitive than the boa dials on my fiziks.

Great Shoes, Amazing quality

Amazing quality. Have been wearing SIDI's for years and just wanted a new pair of shoes with the new bike. As others have mentioned, the tongue is not the most comfortable as soon as you slip these on your feet. I manually softened the tongue and rode them on my trainer. After a couple of rides, I tested them outdoors on a ride and I found that they did not bother me at all, definitely did not dig in or hurt. I did replace the insoles with the Specialized BG insoles and found that it also made a difference in comfort over the stock insoles. Several rides now and I've found these shoe to be amazingly comfortable.
