The OFF 5's 6061-T6 aluminum frame uses butted and hydroformed tubes sized for the 7 to 11 age range, with a low top tube for easy dismounts and a dropper seatpost-ready seat tube for riders who want more capability as their skills develop. The light carbon fork runs a 100 x 15mm thru axle and stays stiff and responsive through varied terrain. SRAM X5 trigger shifters index through 9 speeds backed by an 11-34T cassette and 28T narrow-wide chainring, a wider range than the OFF 4 for the longer climbs that come with bigger trails. Promax hydraulic disc brakes run 160mm rotors front and rear, proportionally sized for riders moving faster and carrying more weight than the OFF 4 age range. Schwalbe Rocket Ron 24 x 2.35" tires with ADDIX SPEED compound deliver low rolling resistance on hardpack and real traction on loose and rooty surfaces. The 130mm child-specific cranks maintain a narrow Q-factor appropriate for this age group. The flip-flop stem adjusts handlebar height without additional hardware, and the Alexrims tubeless-compatible wheelset with thru axles front and rear is ready for a tubeless setup when the rider wants it.
