The Santa Cruz Nomad CC GX AXS pairs wireless shifting with 170mm of VPP travel

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The step up from the 90 build to GX AXS gets you wireless shifting and the Zeb Select+ fork, which is a meaningful upgrade in terms of feel and adjustability. The GX AXS T-Type drivetrain is impressively reliable for the price point, and pairing it with Maven Bronze brakes and Reserve 30 AL 6069 wheels gives you a spec sheet that competes well above its class. This is the build I'd recommend to most riders shopping the Nomad lineup."

Who It's For

Advancing enduro and all-mountain riders seeking a wireless, trail-hardened build.

The GX AXS is the Nomad for riders who have moved past entry-level and want a component spec that keeps pace with their riding. The wireless SRAM AXS ecosystem offers easy micro-adjustments and a clean cockpit, while the Zeb Select+ fork brings additional damper tuning over the base model. Riders progressing toward technical enduro terrain or aggressive all-mountain riding will find this build ready to grow with them.

What It's For

Enduro singletrack, rowdy descents, and sustained technical riding.

The Nomad CC GX AXS is built for trails where commitment is required. With 170mm of VPP rear travel, a 63.6-degree head angle, and a 29"/27.5" MX wheel setup, it handles steep chutes, loose over hard, and sustained rock gardens with authority. The frame accepts up to a 27.5x2.5 rear tire and a 36t max chainring, keeping setup options open for different terrain preferences.

Why We Like It

The GX AXS build is where the Nomad lineup starts to feel truly complete.

Santa Cruz's redesigned VPP kinematics improve on the previous generation across the board: lower anti-squat reduces harshness on square-edge hits, reduced anti-rise keeps the rear wheel tracking under braking, and a revised leverage rate improves small-bump sensitivity deeper in the travel. The result is a suspension platform that climbs better and descends more confidently than the Nomad has ever managed.

Component-wise, the SRAM GX AXS T-Type wireless drivetrain with a 10-52t cassette and AXS Pod Controller is clean, precise, and easy to live with. SRAM Maven Bronze 4-piston brakes with 200mm rotors front and rear deliver powerful, modulated stopping. Reserve 30|SL + 30|HD AL 6069 wheels on DT Swiss 370 hubs are a lightweight and durable alloy option, wrapped in Maxxis HighRoller EXO+ 29x2.4 up front and Minion DHR II Double Down 27.5x2.4 out back.

The CC carbon frame includes the updated Glovebox V2, top tube accessory mounts, and mechanical derailleur routing, all backed by Santa Cruz's lifetime warranty. OneUp dropper post with up to 240mm of travel (size dependent), a 42mm OneUp Enduro stem, and an 800mm aluminum bar complete a cockpit tuned for aggressive, committed riding.

Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.
