Why We Like The Reverb AXS Dropper Seatpost

Whether you're a neat freak looking for a way to tidy up your cockpit, or you're a hunter of the newest, sleekest components, we wouldn't fault you for giving RockShox new Reverb AXS Dropper Seatpost a good once-over. This elite new dropper skips the cables, opting for electronic actuation that wirelessly communicates between a sleek button at your cockpit and your dropper post for a setup free of hoses, routing, and wasted energy. All of this has been enabled by SRAM's AXS technology that brings a new level of interaction, personalization, and connectivity to your steed.

The post itself is smoother to move than previous generations, requires less downward pressure to drop, and can be stopped in any number of positions between its base and highest reach. It uses a new lower-friction IFP that allows for faster actuation of the post, preventing sluggish rebound when you need your saddle at full-mast for punchy pedal fests at the bottom of a descent. The post also features new Vent Valve technology that enables super simple servicing. While RockShox builds the post to be resilient to rigorous use, there's no debating that sometimes things just don't go as planned, and being able to perform quick-fixes is a must — especially on a dropper post that rings in on the high-side of triple-digits. Vent Valve technology is a fail-safe put in place that we hope you never have to use, but enables you to service the post in the event that oil and air mix, without disassembling the post all together — all that's required is that you depress the valve, compress the post, and you're good to go. Air will channel back into the air chamber, leaving the oil where it belongs.

Why did I wait so long?

The answer is, it’s expensive, no getting around that. I put this on my drop bar mountain bike & wish I had done it sooner. Even after reading it in reviews, the action, smoothness & easy of using the AXS dropper is better than expected. No more having to get into the drops to use my former lever. Paired with my shifters, I can drop the seat from any hand position I can shift from, which results in me using it much more often.

Luxury, but some serious benefits

I bought this to lose the wire… I was shocked at a few things. It is super fast once you touch the paddle to drop or raise the post. Way faster than my previous dropper. The ability to put that saddle into exact positions is incredible. I also enjoy the ease of adjusting saddle tilt. This thing is more practical that I realized.

Better than Fox Wireless Dropper Post :)

If it was not so pricey, I would have gave it 5 stars. Otherwise, it functions perfectly so far and was quick to adjust from cable actuated levers. Time will tell how durable it is until it needs serviced.

Awesome

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I decided to upgrade the dropper post on my XC bike to the Reverb AXS. Admittedly, I thought this upgrade was more about embracing technology and getting rid of the dropper cable. That said, I've found that I use the dropper more frequently because it takes less effort to engage (both at the remote and at the saddle). It's so easy that I'll even drop the saddle for short stretches. Due to the battery placement, you may have to think through seat bag placement. I got the Lezyne SendIt Caddy and that works fine to hold the spare tube, CO2, and levers without putting any unnecessary pressure on the battery. I'd definitely recommend the Reverb AXS.

"Probably" Five Stars

I recently got a Specialized Epic with AXS drivetrain and needed to add a dropper. I love the cable free cockpit so wanted a wireless dropper to match. Install and set-up were dead simple since no cable routing was involved. The seat clamp design is better than most and seat position and angle were easy to set. The remote and dropper paired instantly with no fuss. There is a tool included for self-service if you ever need to bleed the internal piston. Battery, charger, and cord were included. The remote and dropper combined added exactly one pound compared to the carbon fiber post that it replaced. Function seems really good. Force required to drop it is on par with anything I've used and the return function is perfect. Cons: The remote sits low enough that in a crash it will hit the top tube. The shifter remote is the same on the AXS drivetrain so now the potential for issues is doubled. $800 is a crazy amount for a dropper. Bonus: If derailleur battery dies you can swap with the dropper battery. Maybe I just paid $800 for a spare battery carrier
