Lightweight Ripley SL Mountain Bike Frame with dw-link suspension and in-frame storage for XC and trail builds

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Ripley SL frame stands out for how efficiently it converts power into forward motion without feeling harsh or nervous on rough terrain. The dw-link suspension delivers excellent anti-squat for climbing, while the geometry keeps things predictable at speed. It’s a strong option for riders building a lightweight bike that still handles real trail conditions."

The Ripley SL Mountain Bike Frame is engineered for riders who demand efficiency, precision, and versatility from a short-travel platform. Built from handcrafted carbon and designed around Ibis’ proven dw-link suspension, the frame delivers 117mm of controlled rear travel that maximizes pedaling performance while maintaining traction and composure on technical terrain.

Designed to pair with a 130mm fork, the Ripley SL strikes a balance between quick handling and trail-ready stability. The frame’s modern geometry promotes efficient climbing positions while remaining confident on descents, making it well suited for endurance racing, fast trail loops, and long days that mix climbing and technical riding. Clearance for modern 29in tires allows riders to fine-tune grip and rolling efficiency based on terrain and riding style.

Frame details emphasize compatibility and usability. A threaded bottom bracket simplifies maintenance, SRAM UDH compatibility supports modern drivetrains, and clearance for powerful disc brakes ensures confident stopping performance. Integrated Ibis STOW storage adds on-bike carrying capacity without sacrificing clean lines, making the Ripley SL frame a refined foundation for high-performance XC and trail builds.

Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.

Sungrown In California

The Ripley SL is manufactured in Ibis’ 100% solar-powered California facility, where carbon layups, tolerances, and finishes are controlled in-house. That hands-on process delivers consistent quality, a refined ride feel, and confidence baked into every frame.

117mm, Dialed DW-Link

Short travel does not mean short on capability. The 117mm dw-link suspension is tuned for efficiency under power while staying composed when the trail gets rough, giving the Ripley SL a fast, controlled feel that rewards smooth lines and hard efforts.

Race-Weight Carbon Frame

At just 5 pounds with shock, the Ripley SL frame keeps overall bike weight low without chasing fragility. The result is a lively, responsive ride that accelerates quickly and feels easy to manage on long climbs and full days in the saddle.

Dialed STOW Storage

Integrated Ibis STOW frame storage keeps tools, snacks, and essentials tucked securely inside the downtube. Two purpose-built bags reduce rattle and wasted space, helping riders leave packs behind while keeping weight centered and out of the way.

Built To Fly

Ibis Cycles started in 1981 when founder Scot Nicol opened a tiny workshop near Mendocino, California, with no big plan beyond building mountain bikes that were fun to ride and tough enough for the rough stuff. Today, from its home base in Santa Cruz, Ibis remains a small, rider-owned company focused on doing a few things really well: designing carbon and aluminum mountain bikes that climb efficiently, descend playfully, and feel lively every time you point them down the trail. With long-time owners and in-house engineering still deeply involved in the day-to-day, the brand stands for bikes that are light, durable, and above all, a blast to ride—whether you are racing, lapping local trails, or just chasing that next perfect corner.
