SRAMGXP BB86 Bottom Bracket
Item # SRM0362
GXP BB86 Bottom Bracket
Since the idea of a bottom bracket "standard" is in flux these days, SRAM offers just about every option on the planet. This is their GXP Road Pressfit bottom bracket system. This is comprised of two sets of steel bearings, each in a nylon cup with a lip. You press each set into a side of a BB86 (road) bottom bracket shell. Then, you take any SRAM 24mm through-axle crankset and boom(!) you just got your non-standard bottom bracket to work with a whole bunch of Truvativ cranksets.
The SRAM GXP Road PressFit bottom bracket works with pressfit specific bikes only, like the Scott Addict R1 and CR1 SL. The claimed weight of the SRAM GXP Road Pressfit bottom bracket is 91g.
- Nylon cups
- Stainless steel bearings
- Compatible with BB86 road bottom bracket shells

Will this BB86 work in a 2015 Scott Spark with a Sram Eagle XO1 crank assembly?

Hi Robert, it looks like the 2015 Scott Spark has a BB92 bottom bracket so this would not work. As long as you have a GXP spindle you'll need Sram's BB9 GXP bottom bracket which is under our part number SRM0334 or we have some other options from Wheels Mfg as well.

No, you need BB92.

Only if you are in a pinch
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I used this in a new build and it was a bad idea, sure it works fine as long as you never get it wet, I only had about 2000 miles on it and very early rode in rain or used water directly on this road bike yet the bearings completely rusted till if seized up. Plastic..cups no thanks. Get wheels Manufacturing that threads together, a massive imporovment. I use https://wheelsmfg.com/bottom-brackets/bb86-92/bb86-92-outboard-abec-3-bb-for-24-22mm-sram-cranks-black.html

Bad NDS bearing.
I.D. of NDS bearing measures almost 22.2mm leaving a sloppy fit and play in the cranks when assembled. A search reveals this is a somewhat common issue. Had no choice but to cobble something together for a race this weekend. Fortunately the DS bearing is good, which is what I truly needed.

It spins
Not much to say, its a bottom bracket. Replace every season or so and you have a fresh bike!

Works as intended, gets the job done
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought a BMC Teammachine frame that takes a shimano BB86 bottom bracket but I wanted to run my SRAM Red GXP crank on it and this got the job done. Pressfit BB86 shell converts to SRAM/Truvativ GXP.

Gets the job done
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Unless you are riding TT or at an elite level where every watt counts, no need to run ceramic. This will get the job done!

Great BB
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I purchased this BB to change my FSA crank to a Sram Red crank. This is exactly what you need if you have a BB86 frame and want to install a Sram/GXP 24mm spindled crank. Installation was a breeze. I used a 32mm socket to tap the bearing cups in to place. Went in good and true and with ease. A quick note on installation: The spindle on the Sram crank is tapered. The drive side is the larger end of the spindle. The bearing cups are sized with the drive side having a larger ID than the non drive side. Therefore, make sure you install the right bearing on the right side. Bearings roll well! No problems for me with this BB.

Yes that will work. You would then be able to use the GXP spindle.

No, your crank is not compatible with a BB86 frame.
