treat myself

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

probably nicer than a mechanic like me deserves, but it REALLY is a nice set. Has everything I ever use and then some. great finish on the case, highest quality tools.

No better Hex set

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Life is better with nice tools. These may be considerably more expensive than another brand's hex set, but the value is right on par with the price. There won't be a need to buy another set of Allens after you have this on your work bench. Whether you're considering this set for yourself or as a gift, the answer is yes, you do NEED them.

This tool set will make you feel pro. Even if you don't feel pro, you look pro. Such high quality and precision in the tools. Makes a great gift for any level cyclist.

Give Away Your Old Hex Wrenches

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Everyone has a pile of hex wrenches sitting in their tool box so what's the point in buying a $100+ set? Put one of these on a fastener and you'll get it. The tolerances are much tighter than lesser brands and the rough coating does keep these from slipping out of your hands. The box looks so nice and the additional bits and bit holder are a bonus. My one small complaint is that the magnet on the bit holder could be a bit stronger.

Give all your old wrenches away and get these and you will not be disappointed.

    Oh YEAH

Sometimes you just gotta TREAT YO'SELF! and if you are always wrenching on your bikes, why not? Plus it's a set that'll last a lifetime.

    I Quite Like These.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Yes, the Silca HX-One Home Essential Tool Kit is an indulgence and a luxury. Yes, tools with the same function can be bought for a fraction of the price. But then again, so are carbon bottle cages, made-in-Italy bib shorts, and high-tpi road tires. After years using the same set of basic ball-head wrenches with a mis-matches 2.5mm, I splurged on a set of these. They are very hard steel with a smooth finish, so they slot into bolts with exceptional ease. the textured paint on the handles mean they are easy to grip and hard to drop. The wooden box means they are best for home or workshop use, but owners of this set will seek out opportunity to use them!

As with everything that Silca does, these tools are top notch. The tolerances for their Hex heads are so tight that it is almost impossible to strip a bolt when using the correct size. as a shop mechanic, we would go through 5mm and 4mm wrenches about once a year. when we moved to these, we hadn't needed to change wrenches in 2 years and counting.

    Best Hex Wrenches Ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Hands down, the Silca HX-ONE tool kit includes the best hex keys I've ever had the privilege of twisting; these have been the most exact fitting wrenches I've ever laid my hands on, which when you're tightening or loosening the titanium bolts on your Campagnolo Super-Record components is important ... no chance of rounding off these keys or the bolts.

Sure, they're a bit spendy, but with a 25-year warranty, like all Silca products they're built to last a lifetime.

Makes a fantastic gift, which is actually how I got mine; but is one of the many Silca products I own.

    Best Hex Wrenches Ever

    Perfect Gift

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have plenty of tools and hex keys, so I’m not sure why I bought these. That delusion evaporated as soon as I received these. I knew when I opened the box I would never use the other tools I have ever again. There may be some tools where you can go cheap on, but Hex keys are certainly not one of them.
Made from S-2 Tool Steel, dipped in chrome and then sprayed with a textured polymer, Silca is definitely changing the game when it comes to tools. This is a perfect gift for the holidays.
Any questions at all please let me know, happy to help out.

Love 'em. Best quality Hex wrenches I have ever used. I don't think it's appropriate to post a link here but I wrote a very in depth review of these on my blog. If you google "Silca HX1 review" it should pop right up.

What are the tolerances on the 5mm? Are these just re-branded PB Swiss wrenches?

These are the snuggest fitting hex wrenches I've ever used; no slop, no slippage. Can't answer the second question though.

    Just plain awesome...

This is such a nicely made product. Obviously, it's more expensive than a Park Tools equivalent, but I'd gladly buy to support a company willing to support design over just function alone.
