Item # SHO0048

Showers Pass is inspired by the scenic rides of the Pacific Northwest. These beautiful climbs quickly become a challenge when hit with unexpected rain and hail, however, and having the right rain gear is essential to enjoying the ride.

The new Skyline Pants replace Showers Pass' Roadie Pants and fall next to its highly waterproof Club Pants. Perfect for a cool fall or light rain in the spring, the Skyline Pants rely on panels of Elite hardshell fabric to keep the spray at bay. Strategically placed stretch panels allow a full range of motion. And, while they are form-fit pants, they easily fit over cycling shorts for fall and spring, and they also fit over additional base layers when temperatures really plummet.

The Showers Pass Men's Skyline Pants are available in sizes Small to X-Large and in the color Black.

  • Elite waterproof protection at thighs and knees
  • Stretch panel inserts

Terrific Cold & Wet riding pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

You'll want to have a fender on your bike if you're riding in the wet, wether or not you're wearing these, which confuses me a bit either the older reviews below. However, regardless of fenders, these pants will go a long ways toward keeping you %100 warm and dry, unless you're practically going for a swim. I've been using these for everything from delivering Jimmy John's downtown in the sleet, rain and snow, to hiking up a very snowy Olympus and sliding on the pants for quite a ways back down. They've even been used as sub-layer for powder laps at Alta, and all without a tear to the fabric. I wouldn't be surprised if these pants endure 5-7 years of abuse, and I'm excited to keep using them to stay warm on all my adventures.

No clear purpose

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These were purchased to keep me dry in inclement weather and as a barrier on bitterly cold days. I've worn these about 10 times in wet weather on the road and on trails.

After a season of use, I can't recommend these for any purpose:

- They don't protect from rain for more than 10 minutes of exposure.
- They are not breathable enough to argue that breathability is a trade-off for water protection.
- They are too stiff to be comfortable as a wind barrier in cold weather. There are far better options for insulation and wind protection in bitter cold.

The fit is fine but unfortunately, this product is not outstanding in any role. Spend your money on burlier rain protection or more comfortable wind protection.

Do not use without Fenders

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large and XL

Bottom Line - These pants will keep my warm down to around 15f but they won't really keep you dry in real precipitation. They are especially useless if you don't have fenders.

Fit - If you buy your normal size they will fit like cycling tights and it's not easy to add layers. If you buy a size up it is much more reasonable to add layers but the waist will be a bit large. Expect a slim fit.

Build and Fabric Quality - Mixed feelings here. The fabrics seem really solid. The parts that are water resistant are very effective. These waterproof bits are only on the upper front thigh and all the way around your leg from the knee down. The rest of the material is very stretchy and breathable. It makes the pants comfortable and helps them move with you. My first pair came un stitched at the pocket but the second pair held up well.

Performance in Rain - These will not keep you dry at all in any sustained precipitation. There are breathable, not water proof sections across both knees, down the side of the upper leg and on the back nothing is even water resistant. The outcome here is light to moderate rain penetrates on the knees and on the sides of the legs. The absolute worst part of these pants is if you ride in the rain, without fenders you back side will be absolutely drenched. If you do not ride with fenders don't even consider these. However, if you want pants to keep you dry when the pavement is wet and through puddles and you have fenders these are perfect.

Side note, I used these XC skiing and they were actually perfect, the water proofing on the front cuts the wind and the rear side breathes keeping me extremely comfortable.

Note - I am what you'd call an athletic build, a little muscle and a little fat, pretty average guy.

Great for cold and light rain

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

These pants are great for cold weather and light rain. I should have read the description more closely before purchasing as it says that the side panels are not waterproof. They are water resistant, but definitely not waterproof. Heavy rain quickly moves through the side panels.

Great Riding pants for rain or cold

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I love these things! They are always in my stuff sack for relays and multi-leg rides. I am 6' with a slightly longer than average inseam and usually wear a 32-34, and the large fit me perfectly. The fit is tight enough to not flap in the wind, but also loose enough to not look like tights. I've used them in several moderate storms and feel like they would definitely hold up to heavier rain, and I have also used them in sub-freezing temperatures and stayed perfectly warm.

Good quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

They are constructed very well. You will get a little rain seeping in on the sides where the pannel is they put in for breathability. I am right in between the L and XL at 5' 10" 180lbs. The XL was too long and flapped in the wind. The L is a little too snug for confort so I guess its a sign to loose a few pounds :-) I did order the suspenders for them as they would slip down a little while riding.

Breathable, good race fit

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

INCREDIBLY waterproof and breathable aren't normally synonymous, with this being the exception. I felt as though the fit was snug enough to almost race in, and the waterproofing was absolutely stunning. I've used these pants on several 100mile and 200km rides in Utah's harsh weather. They're always awesome. Size up if you want to layer a bit or you are concerned about a snug fit.

Breathable, good race fit

Hi Robert- great review thanks! can you please share a bit more about the pants ability to keep you reasonably dry? I know they aren't full protection shell pants but seems that the panels on the thighs, front legs would do a good job shedding the worst of road spray and active rain. I'm trying to reconcile other negative reviews. thanks.
