Why We Like The Santa Cruz Bronson CC X0 AXS Transmission Mountain Bike
The Santa Cruz Bronson is back and with it comes a plethora of updates we are stoked about. Still the same versatile all-mountain bike we love, but now loaded with improvements to take our capability even higher, the Bronson receives geometry improvements, a redesigned suspension layout, and new frame features for its fifth iteration of quiver-killing domination. A slacker 64.2-degree headtube angle and longer, size-specific chainstays offer more stability on steep terrain, and the steeper seat tube angle, averaging out at 78 degrees, puts us in a more efficient position for climbing. The redesigned Bronson has a new VPP suspension pivot layout to reduce anti-squat characteristics, moving the rear shock forward in the frame and parallel to the ground for a more efficient and smoother ride. The more progressive suspension kinematics give us a smoother ride and more traction, thanks to the lower anti-squat, giving us the best balance between a soft, comfortable, and active suspension and an efficient climbing bike. Additionally, the frame received a larger cutout above the bottom bracket to make sag reading and setup easier. The Bronson still sports its mixed-wheel setup for the best combination of speed, agility, and efficiency and its threaded bottom bracket and UDH configuration for durability and easy replacements. Of course, we can't forget Santa Cruz's beloved Glovebox internal frame storage, which allows us to stash tools, layers, and snacks inside our bike's downtube for easy access. The finishing features for the Bronson 5 include chainstay and downtube protection, as well as a flip chip to slacken out our geometry for bike park days.
The X0 Transmission build of the Santa Cruz Bronson is equipped with top-tier components. Hats off to Santa Cruz, equipping all of their builds, especially their higher-end builds, with premium components to match the price; no inadequate tires and casings, rotors, or outdated components we immediately want to swap out. On top of that, the latest components are featured in these builds, equipping us with recently released fork technology and brakes that complement the bike's ability and take our performance to the next level. Santa Cruz's premium Carbon CC frame is at the heart of the build, sporting premium material makeup for an ultralightweight and durable frame. The CC frame is only compatible with electronic drivetrain and dropper posts due to the absence of cable ports, helping save weight. Next, SRAM's X0 Transmission AXS drivetrain sports flawless shifting and electronic precision for peace of mind on the trails. Reserve 30 SL 6069 aluminum rims are super lightweight and durable and are paired with I9 1/1 hubs for a premium wheelset. Maxxis Assegai and DHRII tires with proper compounds and casings offer reliable grip and durability all over the mountain. Fox Factory suspension takes this build up another notch, equipping us with the Float X rear shock to keep our rear end locked down to the dirt and the Factory 36, Grip X2, 160mm fork, complete with the latest damper tech, to shrug off bigger hits. SRAM Maven Silver Stealth brakes top off this build with some of the most powerful brakes on the market to complement Bronson's updated capability.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
