As light as Race Face's Next 3/4in Riser Handlebar is, it's reasonable to be wary given the abuse and expectations of mountain biking. Thankfully, Race Face tests these bars to meet its downhill strength requirements, which means the cross country-light Next will hold up to aggressive riders, and will be equally at home on both long-travel trail bikes and hardtails alike.

To accomplish a sub-180 gram weight, Race Face constructs the 725mm-wide Next bars with a leading edge unidirectional carbon weave. It then ensures the weave is free of voids and densely compacted to prevent any stress risers. Adding to durability, the clamp zones are reinforced to minimize the possibility of failure at this crucial junction.

The Race Face Next Wide 3/4in Riser Handlebar has a 31.8mm clamp diameter and has a sweep of eight-degrees back, four-degrees up.

The claimed weight is a bit modest

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Initial use and feel is really what I would expect of any quality carbon fiber bar. It's really difficult to review a commodity item where the sweep, rise and length can be so personal for the person using it.
I'm not a weight weenie, but these did not weigh out as the claimed weight of 175g. .

Light and Stiff

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bar has a great shape and is very light and stiff. A great upgrade to any bike out there. I went with the 31.8 clamp so it wouldn't be as stiff compared to the newer 35.0 trend.

Great Bars

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have put these bars on two bikes now. They are solid bars, and you can't beat the price for carbon and from a great brand like RaceFace. They are stiff enough to improve handling but don't sacrifice on comfort.

This bar greatly improves the handling while not sacrificing weight or comfort.

i ride narrow trails. my current bars are 25" (635mm) wide. is it possible to cut these down?

Yep. Let your LBS do it, they’ll have the right kind of fine blade to ensure the ends don’t fray.

Great Bar

Awesome, affordable set of bars. I put these on an old full suspension bike of mine and it completely changed the look and feel of the bike. It's not easy to find a set of nice carbon bars for this price and from a great brand like Raceface.

This is a great bar for the money! I had never really been a Race Face user. I purchased a fat bike earlier this year and it came with a few Race Face components. I was very impressed with the cranks and so I started looking at their offerings for carbon fiber handlebars. My first stop was always Back Country and I found this NEXT bar for a great price. I've been very impressed with the bar. The dimensions and dampening properties work great and it also looks great to boot! I recently picked up another one of these to install on my Specialized Stumpjumper as well. The matte black goes perfectly with that frame and the increased width of this bar improved my handling substantially over the 685mm bar I had on there.

I've opted to run both of NEXT bars with ESI Chunky grips. I'd recommend these grips for any carbon handlebars as they are silicone and easy to install and remove/re-use.

Save some money and grab one of these for a great carbon bar for XC and trail riding.
