Twenty-nine-inch wheels roll over obstacles that smaller wheels deflect off of — it's a geometric advantage that becomes more meaningful as terrain gets rougher and speeds get higher. The Race Face ERA eMTB 29in Boost Wheel was engineered to fully realize it, pairing the roll-over capability of a 29in platform with a build spec designed around the specific demands of motorized riding.

The front wheel is built around a front-specific 18.6mm deep rim profile, tuned 15% stiffer in lateral compliance than the standard ERA front wheel. At the speeds and weights a full-power eMTB generates through rough, technical terrain, a front wheel that holds its line rather than flexing laterally is the difference between the bike tracking precisely through a rock garden and washing off course. The 29in diameter amplifies this effect — more wheel contacting the ground means more surface for compliance to act on, and getting that compliance spec right for the added weight is what keeps the front end planted and predictable rather than skittish. The rear wheel is built for the torque and impact loads that the motor and added weight generate: 32 larger gauge spokes lace a 22.6mm deep rim to a heavy-duty Vault hub with 3-degree engagement and a reinforced steel axle. The spoke count and gauge handle sustained drive torque without fatigue, the 3-degree engagement keeps pace with the motor's output, and the deeper rim profile adds lateral stiffness where the rear wheel needs it most under power. Anvil Edge bead walls reinforce the tire interface on both wheels, protecting against the bead damage and pinch flats that come with hitting bigger obstacles at higher speeds.

The 30mm internal rim width supports the wider tire profiles that give 29in eMTB wheels their traction and roll-over advantage without compromising the lateral stiffness the compliance tuning is built around. At 1750g for the wheelset and rated to 150kg system weight and 130Nm of maximum drive assist torque, the ERA eMTB 29in Boost Wheel is built to the actual demands of full-power eMTB riding — not extrapolated from a trail spec and hoped for the best.
