New routes with old friends.

In its third year of creating cycling apparel, POC expanded on its successes with the race-focused Raceday and safety-conscious AVIP lines by taking the logical next step: introducing a new line aimed at long-term, recreational riding comfort. Proving that calculated, careful design begets functional, durable pieces, the Fondo Light Men's Jersey is a versatile addition to POC's steadily growing collection, and each color variant features a custom zipper pull to represent well-known gran fondo rides from around the world. For the days when your riding group does its annual all-day ride to a favorite scenic area or for solo weekend jaunts exploring new routes, the Fondo makes a comfortable, reliable companion.

As its name makes clear, the Fondo Light is an airier, lighter version of the Fondo Classic jersey, making it ideal for warmer days or climb-intensive rides where breathability makes a difference. POC uses a polyester fabric to construct the jersey, adding even airier mesh panels under the arms to enhance ventilation while a full-length zipper lets you open up for more airflow on especially hot days.

POC paid careful attention to the collar's smooth, flexible shape as well as the soft arm cuffs, which don't use any silicone or elastic grippers to stay in place. The brand does add a well-placed elastic band around the back of the waist hem, but switches to a cleanly glued hem along the front of the waist that promises to stay dutifully in place as you move around in the saddle. Three rear pockets give you space to store, and easily access, hours of ride nutrition, while the overall fit remains tailored but more forgiving of a mid-race café stop than Raceday or AVIP.

True to size for me

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm 5'8 155 lbs. and a Med. fit perfect. I like my jerseys snug but, not tight. Material is definitely light and perfect for summer. Plastic zipper is a bit questionable however, I don't run my jerseys through the dryer.

Not expecting much, but pretty happy!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I think a few of these reviews are unfair and probably not from experienced cyclists. The jersey is clearly a 'light' version and for that, you would expect thinner material and hardware - just the same as any other manufacturer. Obviously this means it isn't as robust, but you pay your money and take your choice. For me I have had no problems with the quality, but I take care knowing it is designed to be light, rather than rugged.
The fit is described as more tailored than normal, but not full race fit, and that is what I found. I'm 5'11", 155 lbs and found the medium to be snug, but not painted on like a race fit - i.e. sizing was as described. If you don't want a tight fit, size up.
The reason I don't give it 5 stars is the sun protection. Given it is light and airy, when you hold it up to the light, you can see through it pretty well. I completed a 2hr ride in the sun and my back was a little pink at the end of it (and starting to develop some attractive HR monitor and bib short strap tan lines!). I wouldn't want to be out in the sun all day with no sun screen on my back. This reduces the practicality of it for me and should be something potential buyers are aware of.
With the sale price, I think it's good value, but buyers should be aware they are buying a lightweight performance garment and know the design implications of this.

Yep, too small and yep, the zipper sucks

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Large

Gave it a shot because I liked the design and the green color was on mega sale. As other reviewers state, it definitely runs small. A large with a 41in chest should fit me perfectly, but this one feels like a sausage casing. Part of the problem is the material - it just doesn't stretch much at all.
The zipper is one of the smallest gauge zippers I've seen on a jersey. Closer to what I'd expect to see on a zip pocket, really. Lots of friction and resistance when zipping it up, even when the jersey is not being worn. Seems fragile and I'm not sure I'd expect it to last very long.

Thanks for the review Matthew! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

I don't know why I gave this a shot, but I did. The medium is far too small. I'm a comfortable medium in all my clothing. Thanks for costing me the shipping fee, POC. Will stick to my local bike shops for jerseys and leave POC gear to ski racers..

Great fit and cool

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I live in sunny and warm south Florida so I really get to rest the "summer" jerseys. This is a well fitting cool jersey (temperature wise and look wise). The sleeves are the low point I would say, they should be longer or more compressive so they don't bunch up but not a big deal. There is no gripper around waist but the cut is such you really don't need one. The only thing missing is a zipper pocket on rear for key fob etc. I'd also like to see more color choices then I'd stock up on these. Overall a nice jersey that I'll get a lot of use out of.

Update 6/3... bought another one, the grey one. I wish it came in more colors, great jersey

More fashionable than functional

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

This is a fine looking jersey, lightweight form fitting material. The zipper is cheap, and delicate. The fit seems right for a straight body, but did not do well on myself with a V-shaped torso to abdomen.

Great Jersey, good for hot weather

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

This jersey is nice. It's pretty basic in features but it's light and airy. I've used in temps in the high 90s and it keeps things comfortable. It has a moderate race fit. Not super tight but it's definitely not loose. Fits true to size.
