Crane Helmet
Dirt jumping and dowhill require more head protection than an in-mold
XC helmet can provide. The POC Crane Helmet is a hard shell,
multi-impact freeride helmet with more coverage than an XC helmet, a
dent-resistant shell, and a dual density EPS liner for added protection
and comfort.
The Crane fits more like a skateboard helmet, and this way it envelopes more of your skull. The fit can be custom tailored, and since it offers more coverage, the potential for movement when your head strikes the ground is less than smaller helmets with less coverage. Thinking about the way we wreck on trails, there is a greater chance for a variety of trajectory–forwards, sideways, even backwards. When you get crazy, crazy things happen. So, to protect your brain you need to cover your skull.
POC builds the Crane Helmet as a single layer system. It has a polycarbonate shell that acts as the first defense against impact energy. It spreads the impact across a greater area so that the EPS liner can further absorb and soften the blow and protect your brain. It's designed as a multi-impact system, so the helmet can survive more than just a few connections with the terra firma.
POC punches eight large vent holes in the shell, so you'll get plenty of airflow on hot days. A size adjustment system at the back allows you to snug it down for a perfect and wiggle free fit.
The POC Crane Helmet comes in Krypton Blue, Lead Blue, Iodine Green, Bohrium Red, Hydrogen White, and Uranium black and is available in three sizes–Extra Small/Small, Medium/Large, and X-Large/XX-Large. The pads inside are treated with Polygiene. It prevents bacterial growth, is eco-friendly, and is perfectly safe next to your skin. Since the bacteria can't grow on the pads, they'll last longer, require less cleaning, and smell way better.

Lightweight & Functional
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
- Size Bought
- XL/XXL
- Height
- 6` 0"
- Weight
- 260 lbs
I was looking for something lightweight and functional for moderate/easy double-track MTB rides. Iâm definitely a beginner rider and was not ready for full-face protection. This is my first experience with purchasing a helmet for MTB-ing but can definitely see a use for other sports/activities. Iâd definitely recommend this to a friend whoâs looking for something similar.

Does the poc crane helmet have a dial adjuster or is it Velcro tabs?

Cranium Approved
I recently stepped back onto a skateboard and thought that this would be ideal. It has not been tested yet but I can count on it keeping me protected. This is also my go to for casual bike rides with the family. You can break your limbs and legs but you cant break your head, keep yourself protected.

Check fit chart. Otherwise great.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I ordered the same size as my previous POC helmet which was XL/XXL but it was way too big. M/L here is perfect. Such a nice lid, shell takes a good beating but the vents are great on hot days. The adjustability of the Crane is worth it over the Crane Pure too. Glove like fit. I bought one in white for my girlfriend too to use around town too. Highly recommended.

Sweet lid

I bought this to replace the POC Receptor Flow Bug helmet that I have thoroughly worn. The ventilation on the Crane is great. The Receptor is a dual purpose snow and bike lid so it was very warm and I am loving the wide open vents of the Crane. They have also slimmed out the helmet so it fits a little larger than the Bug but with the internal size adjuster this isnt a problem. I have no doubt this will serve me equally as well as the Receptor Bug. That can now be relegated to a dedicated snow helmet.

Stylish as well. I researched bicycle helmets. Not being a fan of the traditional shape of helmets, and being 47.. I wanted to find something that would give me good coverage and be safe. This helmet exceeds expectations. The price is cheaper on Competetive Cyclist than other sites. I also bought the POC Receptor Flow for my wife.WE are both pleased and look cool as hell! I'm buying POC protective gear next for my spine. I've had a 12 level spinal fusion. (Butt to neck) Safety Rocks!

Dan, thanks for the review! What's the size adjuster system at the back of this helmet? Is it the Velcro closure or a dial/ratchet system? Thanks!
