Backcountry Customer Service
I had a question regarding my purchase of the Pioneer Ultegra R8000 dual side power meter and spoke with Matt and Brooklynn on two separate days. They both were very helpful and took care of my inquiry and request. Great customer service.
Now I need to install the power meter and accumulate some miles :-).
Nice Product from Super Helpful Company!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I wanted a power option that would allow me to switch pedals, wheels and ride indoors on Zwift. I sometimes switch to SPD pedals and shoes if the ride destination will involve some walking. So pedal or hub based was out (unless I wanted multiple hubs on different wheels - uh, no).
Crank based seemed to be the best option and this particular crankset fits the bill perfectly. After a few hundred miles I have had exacly zero problems with this paired to iPhone using CycleMeter app (which I also love, BTW). There was a small learning curve, mostly with navigating the Cyclo Sphere Control app, but nothing major.
I have never purchased from Competitive Cyclist before, and to be honest was not planning to buy this the day I did, but once i started online chatting with them it all came together. The agent I was chatting with had, or found, all the answers to my questions, hooked me up with the correct bottom bracket, and got my stuff out to me a two days.
Great product and Excellent experience start to finish!
Will it fit on S-Works Shiv?
How much additional clearance is needed on the left side crank arm? I’m on a 2019 Trek Checkpoint ALR5 and it’s pretty tight next to the chain stay. With my current Shimano 105 arms it has around 5mm of clearance.
If space is tight, the Stages power meter may be a safer bet. I had to exchange a Pioneer unit for a Stages one because the Pioneer didn't quite fit and the Stages gave a critical couple millimeters more clearance.
