Run mixed wheels with confidence on the Aluminum Boost MX Wheelset

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I built this MX wheelset onto a long-travel enduro frame for a race series with a lot of tight, technical sections, and the handling gains were obvious right away. The 29in front held its line through rough straights, while the 27.5 in rear let me snap through chicanes and tight switchbacks without losing speed."

We spec this wheelset for riders chasing the handling benefits of a mixed wheel platform without sacrificing the durability a trail or enduro build demands. OneUp built the Aluminum Boost MX Wheelset around a 29in front wheel paired with a 27.5in rear, a format that pairs the rollover and stability of a bigger front wheel with the snappier handling and reduced wheelbase of a smaller rear.

Both rims share a 6069 aluminum construction with a 27mm depth and 30mm internal width, along with angled bead walls and bead retention tracks that help keep tires seated under hard cornering loads. The front uses 28 spokes and a lighter layup for compliance, while the rear gets 32 spokes, thicker rim walls, and reinforced nipple beds to manage the braking and impact forces concentrated at the back of the bike. Every rim is welded, shot-peened, powder-coated, and heat-treated. OneUp's hubs use a fully machined 7075 aluminum body, an integrated drive ring, and a 44T ratchet drive, built around double-butted Sapim spokes with aluminum nipples. Fillmore Valves come preinstalled and licensed directly from their original design, offering far more airflow than a standard Presta valve for quicker tubeless seating, and the rims ship pre taped with 3M tubeless tape.

Compatibility runs Boost spacing throughout, 15x110mm front and 12x148mm rear, with an XDr freehub preinstalled and MS or HG drivers available separately, plus 6 bolt rotor mounts for broad frame and fork compatibility. The 3mm offset spoke drilling improves tension balance across both wheels, helping the build hold true longer between services.
