The Dissector 27.5—engineered for speed and stability on aggressive trails.

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

“The 27.5in Dissector balances speed and control perfectly. I prefer it as a rear tire for its fast-rolling capabilities, but it works well as a front tire when more grip is needed. The EXO+ casing keeps it light yet durable enough for rough terrain, and the tubeless setup lets me run lower pressures for better handling.”

The Maxxis Dissector 27.5 tire was developed with downhill legend Troy Brosnan to deliver maximum speed while maintaining superior cornering traction. Ideal for trail, enduro, and downhill riding, this tire minimizes rolling resistance for faster descents, while the 3C MaxxTerra and MaxxGrip compounds provide the perfect grip for a range of conditions—from dry hardpack to loose and rocky terrain.

Built with durable casings like EXO and DoubleDown, the Dissector offers excellent puncture resistance, making it a reliable option for rough and technical trails. Its Wide Trail design optimizes performance on modern 30-35mm rims, and tubeless-ready compatibility allows us to run lower tire pressures for improved traction and a smoother ride. Whether you're charging down steep descents or tackling fast flowy trails, the Dissector is ready to deliver.

Great tire, one weakness...

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

A great tire that can hang in pretty much any condition (except super wet, super deep, slop). I have run it all across Colorado and it is fast, predictable in terms of grip, and wonderful in corners! I have run the Exo and Exo+ both in WT and prefer the Exo+, particularly in sharper, rockier terrain! The ONLY weakness that this tire has is that is wears quickly, especially on the side knobs. The DHRII is rumored to wear slightly slower but it is also slower rolling, so it is a tradeoff. The tire inspires so much confidence that you can hammer corners but that puts a massive amount of stress on the outer cornering knobs. The result is fast wear, particularly in rocky terrain. All in all, this is one of the best, if not THE BEST, rear tire Maxxis (and any other manufacturer) has produced.

Maxxis Dissector Wide Trail 3C/EXO+/TR T

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

After thrashing the tires that came on my Ibis HD5, it was time to put on a tire combo that would offer fast rolling speed and traction. The Dissector was it and it didn’t disappoint. I went with the EXO+ casing to add a bit of protection as I ride in the mountain of Asheville NC from time to time.
