Best Rack in the Biz

I travel with my bike a lot. I've had about every rack out there. I don't like any movement if I can help it when the rack is loaded down. The Kuat is by far the most secure and stable rack I've come across. Thanks for providing a great product!

    Amazing Rack!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The functions of this rack are great! This rack has everything functionality wise you could need, plus opportunity to add on more. Favorite features: easiest assemble instructions, and you can always get into your trunk even with bikes on the rack. Simple to use, with an amazing locking system long enough to wrap around the bikes. Thrilled to get the rack add-on!

    Excellent rack, super pleased.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I chose this rack because of the great reviews and all black matte finish.
I considered forgoing that look for the 2.0 with the work stand, but I read somewhere that wide, flat pedals might not fit by the work stand arm, so didn't want to take the chance.
Another thing I was interested in was the ability to lower the tray away from the vehicle to have access to the cargo area. I read reviews of other tray style hitch racks and found the reviews on the Kuat gave me the most confidence that it would work. I have a Nissan Pathfinder and the door just squeezes by the pedals!
(We carry mountain bikes - 29, 27.5 with wide pedals and handlebars.)
Finally, this thing is rock solid. The thingamajig that tightens the rack to the receiver is excellent. Any rough terrain we drive through.. this rack barely moves. And the bikes feel really solid in place.
We use the cable locks to run into the store quick, but nothing longer.
It's only been two months or so, but it's used several times a week. So far, so good! Definitely recommend.

    Superb build quality and functionality

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I specifically bought this rack because I saw no need for the built in repair stand. I also prefer the color and surface durability of the textured matte finish over the gloss paint of the regular NV 2.0.

All in all this rack carries almost any bike confidently with little to no movement. I think the security locks could be improved. They are okay for running into a gas station but I certainly wouldn’t trust them for long periods of time. I also like the modularity of the rack and the ability to carry 2 or 4 bikes with the add-on.

Best rack I’ve owned to date!

The Best Rack for that Spendy Bike

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rack is the best you can get if you are trying to keep that spendy bike on your hitch. It is heavy, but that's why it is so durable and sturdy. There is very minimal play once you tighten down the hitch with the handy wheel in front. It is easily removable (but heavy), as safe as a rack can be as far as locking the bikes up, and it looks really good in the matte black if you are trying to keep that car sleek. If you are looking for a rack that is rarely used or for a cheaper bike then i would get something else. It is pretty rare for a bike rack to ever fall off, but this one just makes you happy with how little play it has!

    Best on the market.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

You may be spending a lot up front but hands down, best on the market!
The quality and design is far superior to everything else out there.

    Great quality rack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The first thing I noticed about this rack is the quality of the materials. The rack is very sturdy and made with heavy duty materials. The only downside to that is weight of the rack is pretty heavy. My favorite elements of the rack are the tightening ball where when extended really creates a snug fit within the hitch and doesn't allow the rack to shake very much as well as the bike locks which I didn't have on my previous rack which are very easy to use and convenient to store. I also bought the add-on rack with this product and the only complaint is I now have two sets of lock keys because there isn't a way that I know to request the same coded keys for both the base and the add-on. I took this rack with 4 bikes from Utah to CA and I didn't once worry about the safety of the bikes.

    Solid Rack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The NV Base is a great solid rack. I opted for the 2 in which is solid at high speeds and rough roads. The rack easily fits and secures my 29er and road bike. The rack is pretty heavy which makes it pretty solid on the hitch. I would suggest having another person help when assembling the rack, it can be a little tricky with one person. Great rack!

what is the difference between the nv 2.0 and the nv 2.0 base?

The only difference is the matte black color vs the powder coat and the Base does NOT come with the built in repair stand. That can be added later if you should choose to do so!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I chose this rack over the other NV 2.0 because I didn't see the value in the work stand arm. Other than that, it is the same rack. It holds the bikes tightly and the rack itself is sturdy in the receiver. I love that the rack doesn't touch the frame of the bike at all. And let's be honest, it looks great, even when not in use!

    Buy This Rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This rack can be set up and attached with two people in about ten mins. It's super simple and it's sturdy as hell. Bikes attach easily, and the built in locking mechanism is great if you need to run into a store for a sec.

    Perfect Bike Rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Kuat NV 2.0 is a high quality tray style hitch mount rack. It easy to assemble out of the box and fairly light weight to take on and off when not in use. Its super durable with the powder coated finish so you dont have to worry about paint chips over time. It does come with locks attached to each tray to keep your bikes safe as well as a hitch lock.

    Major Upgrade

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I had been running another hitch rack for a few years now. It did its job fine, but when I got a new car with a 1 1/4 hitch I needed to get a new rack.

I picked up the Kuat, I see them around and they are the best looking rack and a few of my friends have them and like them, so I snagged it. Very happy with my decision, easy to use built in locks, the revised release handle is convenient and friendly to use as well. It looks great, feels solid, and holds a wide range of bikes without issue.
