Why We Like The Ibis Ripmo GX AXS Transmission Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
Back with an array of updates and improvements, the Ibis Ripmo brings home both anticipated and unexpected changes for 2024. The new Ripmo bumps up the rear travel from 147 to 150mm of DW-Link suspension, slackens out the head tube angle, and lengthens the wheelbase over the previous model for a more capable bike all over the mountain. Ibis also updated their sizing range, and now give us five sizes with a much broader range of fitment compatibility. Furthering the fitment trend, the Ripmo deploys mixed-wheel compatibility and size-specific wheel sizes, giving the two smaller sizes a mixed-wheel setup, while the three largest sizes come stock with dual 29-inch wheels. No matter our size frame or wheel preference, we can run either wheel size with a simple turn of the flip chip on the rear shock link. Another big improvement comes in the way of size-specific geometry, giving us chainstays, seat tube angles, and bottom bracket heights specific to the frame size for a balanced fit and feel. The last feature on the list is actually a first for Ibis, with the new Ripmo and Ripley being guinea pigs for Ibis's new internal frame storage system, featuring a unique latch handle door and special edition Ibis x Cotopaxi storage bags.
The GX Transmission Carbon Wheel build has everything a serious trail and enduro rider could ever need. Ibis's premium carbon frame is made to the highest standards and is made with premium carbon fiber. Plus, it features new size-specific chainstays and seat tube angles for a more balanced fit. SRAM's GX Transmission drivetrain equips us with the electronic precision everyone is after at a fraction of the cost of the high-end models and features a durable and replaceable design. Kudos to Ibis for equipping the Ripmo with a Fox Factory Float X rear shock on all builds and Fox's new Float 36 Factory GripX fork on the majority of builds for top-tier suspension performance. This build is topped off by Industry Nine carbon wheels and hubs for exceptional performance all over the mountain.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change.
