SilverLine Short

Giordana definitely has some garments in its lineup that punch well above their weight class. We're not sure if it's the brand's wealth of knowledge and materials that trickle down or the fact that it owns its own factory in Italy that allows them to hit such attractive price point. Regardless, the Women's SilverLine Short is one of our favorites, and if you are looking for a pair of shorts for the Tuesday night hammerfest, a solo soul ride, or maybe even your first pair of cycling shorts, you can't do much better than these.

The shorts are constructed from 2 panels of stretchy and breathable fabric that provides a contoured fit supporting cycling muscle groups while you pedal, reducing fatigue, and moves hot perspiration away from your skin. The fit is classic Giordana and you'll be in total comfort as the cut is non-restrictive while still offering compression and support for the long miles ahead. Leg cuffs are constructed from 4.5cm non-restrictive, soft, woven elastic that comfortably keeps the hems in place. Topping these shorts off is the Cirro S-W chamois providing a plush, cushioned barrier between you and the saddle with its breathable foam and soothing aloe vera impregnation. Reflective rear striping along each leg allows for brilliant visibility in low-light conditions.

Favorite Riding Shorts for Long Rides

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I am 5'9" tall and about 150 lbs. These shorts are the best I've ever used for long rides. I am back for more!

Loose leg bands, as described by others

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
Large

Weight:

I really wanted to love these, but the leg bands were super loose. I'm 5'2", 137 lbs, and bought a large. Seemingly everything fit ok except for the weirdly loose, gap-y leg bands. They're being returned. I really wish women's cycling clothing sizing wasn't all over the map& an Assos jersey I bought elsewhere to match these was a size Large, and I could barely get it zipped up. Again, I'm not huge - 5'2", 137 lbs, 36D, and I typically ride over 100 miles a week this time of year (check my Strava). I'd love to know on what cycling companies base their sizing upon, but it doesn't seem to include regular avid women cyclists who aren't on a pro level.

Too big

Size Bought:
M
Height:
5' 7"

Tried these on, and the leg bands were too big. They fit my legs, but weren't small enough to stretch and stay in place. The chamois was also too big, as I sat down, I noticed my sit bones didn't come in contact with the cushy part of the chamois. I used to be a small, and thought I should move up to a medium, but its just too big.

Too long for my short legs

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I really like the material but they are too long for my thighs. They hit above my knee and the inseam is only 8.3 inches. Not crazy about the thigh grippers, they were too loose. The chamois was a little bulky when I tried them on but you really need to go on a few rides first. If they fit right, this short is meant for long rides. My quest continues for the right short for my build.

That chamois...it?s huge

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These fit me well in the waist and legs with the exception of the leg band. It was really tight, far tighter than the rest of the leg, and cut into my leg way too much. My biggest problem was the chamois, though. It?s huge. It?s bulky. There was so much bulk out to the sides that within 10 miles my legs and feet were numb and my undercarriage was sore and very unhappy. You just don?t want your undercarriage to be more unhappy than necessary on a bike and I couldn?t wait to get home and take them off. By comparison, my Castelli Velocissima shorts have never made me cut a 4 hour bike ride off after 10 miles and constantly shift on the saddle in desperation to get feeling back in my legs.

bulky chamois

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I liked the fit of these shorts, but the chamois was too bulky for me. That's a personal preference, and other than that, they seemed like really nice shorts.
