What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Instinct 3 Solar is my go-to adventure watch. The solar charging keeps me powered for weeks, and the multi-band GPS tracking is incredibly precise, even in remote terrain. The rugged polymer build and water resistance mean I never worry about durability, and the altimeter, barometer, and compass sensors make it a must-have for any outdoor pursuit. If you need a watch that’s as tough as your adventures, this is it."

The Garmin Instinct 3 Solar is built for those who never stop exploring. Whether we’re pushing through high-altitude climbs, navigating dense forests, or taking on long-distance bikepacking routes, this watch keeps us powered, informed, and on track.

The solar-charging lens extends battery life, allowing us to venture farther without worrying about power. Multi-band GPS, heart rate monitoring, and environmental sensors ensure we have real-time data at a glance, while the rugged polymer housing and 10 ATM water resistance provide ultimate durability. The larger 50mm version maximizes solar efficiency, delivering even longer battery life for extreme expeditions.

IMPOSSIBLE

Just like the S60 the Instinct 3 is impossible to figure out. Whoever orchestrates these tutorials ought to be shot.

Not what I expected

Solar has no color in display. Black and white. No analog watch faces pre-installed. No acceptable choices in Connect IQ. Solar has no color in display. Black and white. Bad research on my part. But it doesn't weigh much. Big advantage

Sucks

I bought this watch for running ultras. I need the extra battery life to be sure to make it through the entire event. When I ran my first ultra, I noticed the watch kept cycling off and on and it caused me to lose over 30 minutes and over 3 miles worth the distance. It came very close to costing me a DNF for the race. I was on the Support with Garmin and restarted the Watch downloaded different files the whole shebang and it’s still doing it so guess what I’m sending it back. I need a GPS watch that’s reliable and if it can’t be reliable as a dealbreaker

Error

does not display autonomy correctly; when the connection to the phone is turned on, it shows autonomy in days longer than when it is turned off.
