The Gold Standard
I love this thing! Excellent UI, lightning fast, fantastic display & graphics, and extreme battery life.

Fast and feature rich but UI needs work
I upgraded from the 1030 and found that (1) location discovery is way faster, and everything is snappier, (2) the screen really is beautiful, and you can turn it down to 70-80% to save batteries and it is still readable in the sun, and (3) it has every feature know to man. However, all that comes at three costs: (1) price, (2) battery life, and (3) usability. It is far more difficult than it should be to do the things you want to do most often. and I am tired of it deciding for me what screen I want to see at different points in my rides. In other words, expect to have to study the manual before using it. And not the cryptic one in the jox, bit the one online.

Great product
I absolutely love this Garmin 1050. It has the features that I’ve wanted and more. I’m planing a bike packing trip in the near future and with the radar rear light and the head light that works seamlessly with this unit is great I have a few miles on a busy highway with the light and radar is a plus for safety. Thanks Garmin for such a fine product

So far, it's a brick
First use - froze first time I touched the screen, then crashed HARD on reboot. Did a bunch of updates (in addition to all the updates when I opened the box) hoping for more this weekend.

Best so far…
This is my third Garmin Edge. Edge 1050 is the best one so far… I really like its display, which is very clear and is easy to see - maps and data regardless of weather conditions - sunshine or dark cloud cover. It communicates seamlessly with my iPhone and bike systems. Also tracks a lot of customizable data for those who are really into monitoring their performance.

Great visuals, sound chimes, but syncing opty
The images are crisp and usability fast. The chimes and alarms were a pleasant surprise… much less annoying than the 1040. One opportunity remains… the syncing. In the past Strava rides and saved maps would appear almost instantaneously on my 1040. I notice a much longer delay with the 1050 to sync, and sometimes I have to manually prompt routes to save down to the device then manually sync in Garmin Connect. All that said… I still recommend as an upgrade to the 1040 if you value bright and sharp screens, and pleasant sounds.

Many very good features
I would like my Edge 1050 a lot more if I could download the routes on Ride With My GPS from our clubs RIDE WITH GPS ROUTES

Beats the view of the 1940
The clarity of the 1050 is more than I expected. The radar gives you sound and color interaction with autos in the rear. The selection of type of ride easy to select for trainer rides or outdoor rides. I turned off auto battery/auto pause and sleep because I want to see my data i.e. heart rate speed distance. On auto pause when I started back on my ride after a rest stop Garmin didn't come back on.
