Really wanted to like this, but...
I have no issues with the use of the product; however, I have tons of issues with the product's power management. The solar charging is weak at best and the battery drain while riding is significant...25% in 1.5 hours in full sun. Will not charge off any DC charging block...requires very specific amp input. Also, once fully charged and unplugged and turned off, will turn on with the slightest movement and run the battery down to close to zero even when left in a sunny spot. Sadly, I am returning a product I had high hopes for.

Great Choices - Got the 1040 & Varia Radar
I bought my 1040 about a month and have used it on approximately 6 short rides around the neighborhood and at a nearby forest preserve. I am extremely happy that I chose the larger screen and didn't get the 840. I'm a purely recreational cyclist, so I really don't need all the training features of the 1040, but I wanted to get the Varia Bike Radar and wanted the largest screen available. Both the 1040 and the Varia have been amazing. The Varia picks up an approaching car 350+ feet behind me. The warning beep from the 1040 is sufficiently loud that I hear it, even if it is windy. The 1040 display clearly shows any approaching vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes, etc.) I won't ride without it. I watched a number of YouTube videos (DCRainmaker, GPLama, etc.) before deciding on the 1040. GPLama has several excellent videos on how to setup the 1040 and has recommendations on several IQ datafields to install to enhance the capabilities.

My Garmin Edge 1040
I ride with my Garmin Edge 1040 3 times a week for about 60 miles. It is great for tracking my performance stats, like personal records. It is coupled with my Garmin Varia RCT715 Radar which warns me about the traffic behind.

Good bike computer, much like my 1030 Plus
Some of the banners are hard to read and it keeps dropping the connection to various sensors, like speed, cadence, HRM, power. But they reconnect after a few seconds.

Worth the upgrade
Huge step up from my Edge 520. The touchscreen is accurate even with wet hands. So many display configurations to fit your needs and an easy swipe to next display. Map is large enough to read safely while riding.

Don't why I waited so long to get this!
I am still learning all of the options and settings, but I am quite satisfied with my current experience. I am especially pleased to have reliable connections to my sensors and Varia. Now, I can't imagine cycling without it.

Incredible addition to biking!
We previously had an Edge 1000. This has so many features and connects automatically to our HR monitor, radar and iPhone. It is customizable and the battery is greatly improved. Expensive, but I feel it is worth every dollar!

Meets Expectations
The 1040 puts all the information that is relevant to my cycling at my fingertips. It seamlessly downloads to the app to give a more comprehensive view. The one feature I would improve is the switching between cycling disciplines, not intuitive.

Perfect size and all you need for tracking
It is so far working great. I used to use my Forerunner 945 for tracking my cycling activities but this edge is perfect size making it much safer. Battery life is good. For some reason WiFi sync does not work for some reason but I believe it does not work while connected to phone. Not a biggy
