Why We Like The Dropframe MIPS Helmet

Taking design cues from the Proframe but without the chin bar, the Dropframe MIPS Helmet combines MIPS technology and extended coverage for the ears and back of the head with the unhindered breathability of an open-faced design. Eight Big Bore intake vents and seven exhaust ports provide additional ventilation, working with the fixed-position visor to channel air through the helmet for a cooling effect on long summer shred days. Should you take a spill, a tough outer shell molded to a dual-density Varizorb EPS liner spreads the impact forces across a wider area, helping to protect against high-speed crashes and slow-rolling tumbles alike.

Details

  • Open-face helmet with extra coverage for technical trails
  • MIPS technology can help reduce impact from rotational forces

  • Large intake and exhaust ports provide airy ventilation
  • Fixed visor helps channel airflow through the helmet

Customer service is above and beyond!!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The helmet. Excellent. Light. Great graphics. Fitment is Spot On!!! For me it is perfect. I’m a 56. Amd that’s exactly what the spec’s for a M are. This helmet comes with two liners. Original is with thin and an additional set of thick. I was a little nervous about fitment because this helmet doesn’t have the hookie barrel adj most all other helmets have. This helmet is MIPS. I’ve tried Troy Lee, POC, Giro….this is the best helmet I could find. It fits the best of any other helmet I’ve ever owned and it’s light, man is it light!!!! Shout out to Backcountry customer service. They are true Rock Stars!!!!

This is a very stylish and good looking helmet. Got compliments everytime in the trails. It is not the most ventilated helmet, but still can use it in our hot humid trails. Holds the sweat pretty well in the forehead cushion. Adjustment-wise however, there is none. The visor is fixed and is not adjustable. The sizing is fixed, and there is no knob to adjust anything... so get your sizing right! Beware that the sizing in this page does NOT include the Dropframe helmet. I went with what the Proframe sizing was, asuming it was the most similar to the Dropframe... but nah. Inside my MEDIUM helmet the sizing is spec'd from 54cm-56cm. Hope this helps! Cheers.

Awesome Helmet. Sizing Kinda Wacked.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have always been a small/medium helmet guy. My head circumference is 57....Which put me (according to the sizing chart) right in the middle of the 56-58 Medium size. After reading a few reviews here...I decided to size UP...To a LARGE. Really glad I did. The large fits my "medium" head perfectly. Because this helmet was in low inventory just about everywhere I looked...I even had a medium-sized helmet saved in my cart, just in case the large was too large. It wasn't. Perfect fit. Incredible helmet. Fit and finish is amazing. Protection with the MIPS and fuller-coverage over ears and jaw is state-of-the-art...But the helmet is light enough to where I don't feel restricted...Or stuffy like some full face helmets. Really thoughtful design. One of the more expensive helmets I've ever purchased. Well worth the money. Fox Stuff always impresses.

Second try?sized up. Still too small.

Medium was too small. Ordera large. Also too small. Have a medium in other helmets and have had no problem with fit. As usual, Backcountry offers excellent and fast return service.

Sized like a children?s helmet

Familiarity:

Like the look. Sizing was way off?runs very small. I?ve had medium sized lids from a variety of brands (Smith, Fox, POC, Specialized, Troy Lee). All great fits. Could hardly get this one over my noggin. Thought like they accidentally sent me a child?s medium. Returned it. Customer service at Backcountry is excellent. Easy return.

Best of both worlds!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

If you are considering getting a full face and a half shell, but don't want to spend the money on both, then look no further! This helmet is the perfect combo, with great side, and back protection to give you the confidence to push your riding. With full-face helmets, it can sometimes be hard to hear your surroundings, but with the open ear hole, you can hear everything and even have space for a wireless earbud if you like to listen to music. Fits seamlessly with googles as well!

Best Helmet ever.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This is by far one of the best if not the best when it comes to protection, and weight. This helmet offers so such, and for the price it’s pretty good. This site is legit I was a little skeptical about the reviews online but this site is 100% legit, but also I’ve got to say that this site has by far one of the best customer service ever.

Looks super cool!

Familiarity:

I absolutely love the extra sense of protection of my Dropframe Pro helmet. Luckily (knock on wood) I haven't had any major impacts, but I have no doubt it would do its job to keep my noggin safe. As seen in other reviews, it does run a little snug, so if you're close to in-between sizes I would recommend sizing up. I am a medium in most other helmets and went with the large. It breathes fairly well, I've had to take it off a few times when climbing in the hot sun. BUT the nice thing is you can hang it on your bars by the ear protection loops. Sunglasses fit fine with the ear pads and I have run goggles with it on some dusty bike park days and they integrate fantastic with no sliding of the strap (I use the Smith Squad MTB). ALSO I get lots of compliments on how cool the helmet is on the trail!
