The foundation of the shoe's off-bike performance is the Stealth Marathon rubber outsole, a compound that Five Ten developed in collaboration with rock climbing footwear and has since brought to trail and hiking applications. The Dotty tread pattern maximizes surface contact on irregular terrain, providing grip on wet slabs, rooted climbs, and loose over hard surfaces where a standard cycling rubber would lose traction entirely. A hook-and-loop ankle strap locks the heel in place during steep hike-a-bike sections, eliminating the lift and slippage that makes walking in stiff cycling shoes inefficient and fatiguing. When the trail opens back up, a 2-bolt compatible cleat plate delivers a secure, efficient pedal stroke with compatibility across standard mountain bike cleat systems including Shimano SPD.

The upper is constructed from breathable synthetic mesh with abrasion-resistant overlays in high-wear zones and an impact-resistant toe box that handles rock strikes and trail debris without adding unnecessary weight.
