That's why the folks at Clif Bar set out to create another energy food option that complements their bars and gels. The result is Clif Shot Bloks. They're simple-to-handle, easy-to-chew, and provide similar nutrition to Shot gel, so they'll fit seamlessly into your training and racing nutrition program.

The primary ingredient for Shot Bloks is brown rice syrup which provides easily assimilated carbohydrates for working muscles, and they provide the mineral salts known as electrolytes. These electrolytes allow electrical impulses to travel properly throughout your body, permitting normal bodily function. When you sweat, you start to deplete your electrolyte stores and experience potential performance decline, so it's best to help replenish them through food and fluid intake.

Clif created Shot Bloks, each in a 10g size, so that 3 Bloks provide 100 calories. That makes it easy to track caloric intake during long outings. There are 6 Bloks to a single serve package, so one package provides 200 calories.

In one order of Shot Bloks you'll get 18 individual 6-Blok packages. The individual packages slide easily into your jersey pocket for quick access while taking up minimal space. Love all flavors

I haven't found a flavor I do not like. I am NOT a gel fan so the shot blocks work great for me for sugar and quick energy when out mountain biking or hiking.

Goodness squared

Picked up the tropical flavor this go-around as we haven't tried them, and no surprise, we enjoy them!
Just like the other flavors we have tried in the Shot Bloks these didn't disappoint. The flavor is great and the caffeine helps get us to the end of the ride or the finish line in my sons case.

Easily digestible calories!

These are an easy and tasty way to get the calories in you while on the bike! The Salted Watermelon and Ginger Ale flavors are surprisingly refreshing. Do not let your friends know you are carrying, they will try and get at your stash the entire trip. Also, hide from the kids, they are always after my "bike snacks" now.

Chewy energy

My only gripe is that they can be difficult to open with one hand/teeth while riding your bike. However they are really easy to eat two at a time and I will use one package on a 50 mile bike ride and it is almost like you can feel the energy kick in. I like that Clif uses a variety of flavors as well. I take them mountain biking and road biking. I like to keep an emergency stash in my backpack or saddle bag just in case!

Tasty Trail Gummies

These square gummies are so good on the trail! Adds a little pep to your step. I like all the fruity flavors that I've tried, and the caffeine ones are genius. I only wish I could get a mixed box of flavors. Also, thankfully these are made without gelatin, so unlike most gummies they are vegetarian-friendly!

I've pretty much tried all the Shot Blocks and loved them all. I'm now getting more of them as the youngest has picked up the sport and we go through them constantly. They work great, easy to swallow and doesn't have any side effects on either one of us.

I got the fruit punch flavor with 25mg of caffeine and they taste so good you wanna eat the whole package. Plus they're packed with energy. My favorite energy chew out there by far.

They are the only solid food I can get down at race pace in the heat. They were the majority of calories I ate for my last 100 mile mountain bike race and although not gourmet dining they got me through.

Caffeeeeeeine! - Black Cherry

I love coffee, tea, and caffeine in general, but when camping/climbing/hiking, I'm never able to just make another cup in the middle of the day. Enter the black cherry flavored bloks!

If you eat the whole package, 100mg caffeine, or pretty much a cup o joe. A great pick me up while out there getting after it.

I like this candy. Because it can be passed off as not candy. It's a performance enhancer. I go with the black cherry.

    Great for if my energy level is getting low, but not sure if I like them or not. For me it as a different taste that I'm not use to.

    I've had a bunch of different energy chews and I have to say I like Cliff's version best so far. They taste just like normal fruit snacks with no weird after taste or anything like that. They come in a nice compact block tube and are easy to throw in any bike pack. Strawberry is BOMB!!
