Construction starts with a 260 TPI Super Polyester casing assembled by hand, step by step, with natural glues and latex coatings applied to produce a level of suppleness that machine-built tires cannot reach. Polyester at this thread count is softer than nylon, resistant to water, and highly durable across repeated hard use. The SMARTplus compound builds on Challenge's standard SMART formulation with added durability, while still benefiting from a process that avoids vulcanization entirely, keeping the rubber naturally soft and grippy throughout its lifespan. PPS2 puncture protection, a reinforced evolution of the original Puncture Protection System fabric, sits between the tread and casing to guard against the sharp debris and embedded grit that come with high-speed gravel riding.
