The conversation about drivetrain efficiency usually ends at the groupset. CeramicSpeed has always argued it should not. The OSPW RS 3D Ti v2 Oil Slick PVD picks up where a SRAM Red AXS or Force AXS build leaves off, targeting the pulley wheels as the remaining source of measurable friction loss and eliminating it with 3D-printed hollow titanium oversized pulleys engineered to tighter tolerances than anything the stock configuration offers.

The performance foundation is the same as the standard OSPW RS 3D Ti v2: a 35 to 40 percent reduction in drivetrain friction over stock, stable chain retention through the reinforced RS cage, and an 87g total system weight that adds nothing to the scale. What separates the Oil Slick PVD is the finishing process. Building on CeramicSpeed's 2022 Titanium Nitride Special Edition, the Oil Slick finish applies an alumina oxide coating through physical vapor deposition — a process borrowed from precision industrial manufacturing — directly onto the titanium pulley surface. The result is the rainbow iridescence associated with high-end component finishing, achieved here without paint, without added mass, and without any compromise to the underlying material properties of the titanium.

The PVD process introduces natural color variation from unit to unit, an inherent characteristic of the coating method rather than a manufacturing inconsistency. For riders building at this level, that variation reads as exactly what it is: a hand-finished surface treatment on a component made in very small numbers.
