Castelli Cromo Gloves - Women's $69.95
Same tech, different sizing.
A quick survey of cycling gear designed for inclement weather makes one thing undeniably apparent: most cold-weather kit is specifically designed for male cyclists, forsaking the ladies of the peloton and trail. Gradually, this is changing, and Castelli's Cromo Gloves, part of the brand's Cromo line of women's cycling apparel, is yet another indication that the cycling industry as a whole is recognizing this historically under-served cycling population.
The Cromo Gloves feature Windstopper X-Fast material on the backs of the hand and cuff, which affords top-end wind protection without the suffocating feel of other anti-wind materials while still keeping the elements at bay thanks to a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment. The soft, brushed fleece of the SmartHeat lining does its part to contribute to dry hands by pulling moisture off of your skin and both it and the Windstopper X-Fast keep you comfortable in temperatures ranging from 41 to 57 degrees Fahrenheit. The palms also resist wind and water, but not at the cost of losing touch with your shift levers.
The Cromo Gloves are rounded out with a long cuff that eliminates the gap between glove and jacket and a microsuede thumb panel to wipe sweat, moisture, and any other matter from your face. They're branded with a tastefully proportioned Castelli logo on the back and a Rorschach-esque splash of complementary color (we find that it's suggestive of either a star burst or floral pattern, depending on who's describing them) on the palm.
The Castelli Cromo Gloves - Women's are available in five sizes ranging from X-Small to X-Large in the colors Black/old rose, Black/violet, White/coral, and White/magenta.
Claimed weights are provided by the vendor.

Couldn't get it on a second time
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Medium
I bought a size medium and liked putting them on the first time, nice and snug but could make a fist well. However, when I went to try on again, the lining wouldn't let my pinky finger go all the way in, and it was just unusable from then on... Very disappointed, second product that totally didn't work for me from competitive cyclist.
In two pieces
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
Gloves fit well and very warm. Only problem which is big if your hands are wet or have been sweating you can not get you hands back in the gloves. The lining is not attached and it takes a lot of work to get your fingers in place. The lining gets bunched up in palm of the glove.
Finally a glove that fits my tiny hands!
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Small
I had just about given up finding a glove that fits - even the XS women in other brands were about an inch too long in the fingers! Child gloves fit, but did not come down long enough on my wrists. Our cold days are probably over for the season, so I cannot review them for wind and warmth, but for fitting my hands, I give them a 5 star rating.
For the hot-handed.
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: Runs small
Protects against sleet and cold, and if you're in the hot-hand camp you can wear these well into the 30s--or so my partner tells me. She tends to handle cold better than most cyclists I know, though, so you may be better off sticking to Castelli's recommendation of a lowe rlimit of 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
