Ride longer and leave the pack behind with the Capo MTB Liner Bib Shorts

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I have been testing the MTB Liner Bib Shorts across a range of trail conditions and the pocket architecture is genuinely the most functional I have seen integrated into a liner at this price point. The thigh cargo pockets sit high enough that they do not interfere with knee drive through technical pedaling sections, and the center back bottle pocket is reinforced well enough that a fully loaded 600ml bottle does not swing or bounce noticeably even on rougher terrain. The Elastic Interface chamois is the real standout though, the foam profile and density are calibrated specifically for trail riding in a way that becomes obvious after a few hours when a road chamois would have started working against you."

The liner short has always been the unglamorous half of the mountain bike kit equation, the piece that does the work while the shell gets the attention. Capo built the MTB Liner Bib Shorts to change that dynamic by engineering the liner into the most functionally capable part of the two-piece system. Paired with the Capo MTB Shell Short, the combined pocket layout rivals a hip pack for rides in the two to four hour range, eliminating the weight and heat of a separate carrying system without sacrificing access to the things you actually need on the trail.

The pocket strategy is deliberate and position-specific. Two thigh cargo pockets are placed and sized for tools, a multi-tool, or a tube without creating bulk that interferes with pedaling mechanics. The two side back pockets target nutrition, sized for gels and bars and positioned for access while moving. The center back pocket is the anchor of the system, reinforced and large enough to carry a full water bottle as a genuine hydration option rather than an afterthought. Mesh side panels address the thermal reality of trail riding, where sustained climbing efforts generate heat that needs somewhere to go, and the bib construction distributes support through the shoulders rather than concentrating pressure at the waist, which matters on rides long enough to make waistband discomfort a real variable.

At the center of the short is the Elastic Interface MTB-specific chamois, and the distinction between this pad and a road-oriented alternative is not subtle. Trail riding demands a pad that performs across a spectrum of positions including seated climbing, technical standing, and the repeated micro-adjustments of rough descending, and the Elastic Interface construction accounts for all of them with a foam profile and density calibrated specifically to that movement pattern. The 5cm compression leg band completes the fit by holding the hem in place through the full range of pedal stroke motion without creating a tourniquet effect on longer efforts. For trail riders who have been managing the tradeoff between carrying capacity and kit simplicity, this liner resolves it cleanly.
