Description

Be your own mechanic.

Blackburn set out to manufacture a multi-tool that would be able to get into all of the hard-to-reach spots on your frame rather than just sitting pretty with its array of tools while you call for a ride home. The Wayside Multi-Tool is solidly constructed and includes the requisite array of hex wrenches, Torx keys, a flat head screwdriver, and spoke wrenches. It's also stocked with unexpected extras like 7-11 speed chain tools, a disc brake pad spreader to remedy brake issues, and a Presta Valve Core tool for valve fixes. It's all arranged in a compact design that's made to fit into tight, hard-to-reach spots on your frame.

Couldn't Be Happier

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So I woke up one day, realized that I was being a total gumby and didn't have all the tools I needed in one spot for those desperate moments when stuff breaks out on the trail. So I picked up this tool and while I was down in Moab riding about 2 days after getting the tool, my rear derailleur broke and I was super thankful I had this tool.

One of the things that stood out on this tool were that it had a chain tool built in and then the allen wrenches were also removable (aside from the ones for your pedals). I ended up using the chain tool the very first time and was so happy to have had it with me when i fixed my derailleur back at camp.

The only tools on it I haven't used yet are the torque heads or the saw, but I'm sure there will be a day where I'll need those.

Over all, this tool is pretty compact, doesn't have a bunch of random junk that I don't need. It's well built and not flimsy or cheap feeling.

Tooling Around

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love having this handy dandy tool with me. My friend turned me onto it and my favorite part is being able to have detachable hex wrenches. Sometimes you just don't want them stuck to the multi tool. I use this and a syncros multi tool now as my go to for on the go

Super awesome tool.

I frequently help run events with ton of novices on bikes, and I always end up wrenching out on the trail. While this tool may not have as many features as others, the way it is set up makes it more usable than others. I love it.
