Assos's Equipe RS S9 Bib Short is built on an entirely re-engineered platform that brings new technology to the table for dialed-in race comfort that we love to see. A-Lock engineering is employed to stabilize the shorts and secure the insert in place, and Assos's rollBar uses the bib straps for stabilization throughout weight transfer. The bibs form an A-frame in the back, which limits vertical stretch to enhance stability. Assos employed superAir microShock foam with 3D waffle to increase airflow while cushioning, and an antibacterial carbon weave wicks moisture while laying flat against the body. The Equipe RS S9 Bib Short is ideal for tight cornering and out-of-the-saddle pushes so we can expect comfort throughout our ride. A compressive hold comes from a primary "butterfly" panel that fully wraps the legs for stability and support.

I have 2 more Assos bib shorts for summer season in different models and this is my favorite among them. The padding isn’t as thick as the Mille GT but works great for me. I prefer the compression it offers over the other models sizing was spot on. All in all has been a great bib for my 60-mile rides

I have been a Pearl Izumi fan for a few decades, but when shopping for new bib shorts, I was turned off by the plethora of negative reviews on their current products. I bit the bullet and spent the extra money on these Assos bibs, and have found that they are worth every dollar. The quality and workmanship are phenomenal, and – very importantly – this is the first pair of shorts that I’ve had in my decades of road and mountain biking that have truly held my man parts in place so they aren’t getting crushed or numb. I couldn’t be happier with them and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone that might be on the fence about spending this much money on bibs. I find the logo on the sides unnecessary as I wear these bibs under my Fox mountain biking shorts, and the logo gets very wrinkled they way it is adhered to the fabric. Other than that, these are stellar shorts! I am 5’-8”, 150lb, size 30-31 waist, and bought the Small based on the size chart. They are definitely snug, but the compression feels really good.

I am typically a castelli free aero big user, I decided to try these as an entry into assos. Overall I think they are great, I love the straps (very similar to the new castelli free aero straps that are more rigid), the chamois is pretty good (I would give the progetto x2 air castelli chamois a win by a small margin), and they are a little less compressive than the castelli free aero bibs. Overall I enjoyed riding them and will keep them in regular rotation. The review that commented on the low front rise as being uncomfortable, I did not notice this to be a problem for me. They fit well and were quite comfortable all around including at the front when bending over on the bike.

Quality I’ve come to expect from Assos, great chamois, denser and thinner than I’m used to but works well. The vents in the chamois really make a difference — I’ve never had sweat come through on my saddle before, so I know they’re working. Compressive on the thighs but super comfortable at the crotch. My current favorite bibs. (I’ve worn them a few times, 20-48 miles each ride.) Even the writing on the legs looks good. Most brands I wear medium but Assos bottoms I always need large, as the size chart says.

I own a Equipe Team BMC and a Equipe EVO before getting the Werksteam S9. The Werksteam uses slightly softer material and is great for summer. Assos has gone to the suspender strap design, eliminating the back fabric panel. That makes the back more breathable and the sweat evaporates faster. This is the primary reason why I purchase the Werksteam. On the picky negative side, I don't know why the Werksteam (177g for S) is 5 grams heavier than my EVO, don't know where the weight is coming from. As for the aesthetics side, I like the muted Assos logo on the two sides. They are not obvious, and are taped on to the fabric similar to other team logos (my Team BMC bib is similar, except it's an eye catching white logo). Last but not least, Assos has started avoiding the use of folded seams, so the fabric edges are bonded instead with no folds and stitches. That makes the fabric lies flat to the skin and is more comfortable. The Werksteam is a great upgrade for me.

An OLYMPIC swim trunk with straps

Pad- great. Amazing. That is the only good thing. However, could not wear it, nor try TO. The ASSOS logo? HARD fused material, so you have x2 ASSOS HARD LOGOS left or right. SO, perhaps the NON SUMMER non logo version better? Then the trunk ergonoMY- atrocious. Google Michael Phelps pics- it is about as high- maybe 2 " higher that his swimwear, undercutting belly and waist line below. So when they say WAIST room in their sizing it makes no sense as it gets nowhere the waist. 99% of top rate bib shorts wrap and compress near or above the belly button area, all around. Makes more aero, etc. These sit inches below, like a swim trunk with straps, and worse, the ASSOS pics are misleading as those are far taller trunks! So lean forward and simulate aero... Well, so your belly tissue is undercut or scraped by the low sitting short elastic- imagine the non bib shorts rolling under and why we ALL go to bib shorts? Now you get both, a short short belly cut with straps.. Every single other short worn past 10 years wraps above and around... No friction. So tight strap pushing against belly. Either case, did not pass the inhouse post delivery test. As for actual
