sJ.blitzFeder Jacket

A primary issue that so many riders have with light, weatherproof riding shells is that they develop a clammy, humid feeling once you start sweating, as many of them are poorly ventilated. Not so with the Assos sJ.blitzFeder Men's Jacket.

The world-renowned fabric fanatics at Assos developed the blitzFeder's Foil043 fabric to combat this precise complaint. It's feathery light, at a claimed 96g for a size Medium shell. It's ultra-thin, too — ball it up into the integrated stuff sack and it easily fits in a jersey pocket. Assos calls the material a "natural windbreaker," which is its way of saying that there's no membrane applied in creating the windproof qualities of the material; the structure of the threads and the density of the weave make it so. A treatment is added to give the fabric water repellency. The fabric also pulls off the incredible trick of being resistant to flapping in the wind. If we could explain how it does this — or if the designers would share this closely-guarded information with the public so that we could — we would.

As with most Assos apparel, it's designed for a snug fit, and it fits best when in the riding position. There is elastic at the wrists and waist to keep things in place, and there are elastic mesh inserts on the sides of the back and under the arms to allow some stretch. Finally, there are reflective tabs on the shoulders and on either side of the waist.

The Assos sJ.blitzFeder Men's Jacket is available in a translucent color called White Panther. Sizes run from X-Small to the largest called TIR.

  • Pedal into uncertain weather confidently with this cycling jacket
  • Advanced fabric is light, thin, water-resistant, and windproof
  • Reflective tabs add a touch of visibility
  • Mesh inserts promote a more natural stretch

Note: Assos clothing has a very slimming, anatomic cut, if your build is less than slim or if you like your fit looser, go up in size.

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure around the widest part of your chest.
Bend to the side and measure around the place where your waist bends, keeping the tape a bit loose.

Great jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've used the jacket on rides with temps in the thirties and during blustery days in the fifties. Just layer underneath as needed. I never use it without arm warmers as things would get really sweaty and gross. It's definitely not a rain jacket. This has become my go-to piece of cold weather gear. I really dig it.

Nice jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Xl

What a nice jacket. My ride started out at a fairly comfortable temperature. Toward the end, it started to get cool. Put on the jacket over my long sleeve jersey.....things were perfect. The jacket fits very well bunched up in the back pocket of your jersey. I usually wear XL in Assos. This fits perfect when you get in “bike position “. Fits tight in chest while standing. I would buy jacket at full price. If you can buy on sale...... No brainer, get it.

The right fit can be tricky, but...

  • Size Bought: Large

So I normally wear between a size L or XL in the Assos brand for both tops and bottoms. I first order a size L since the fit description says "regular". When I first put it on it fit tight around the chest, so I decided to order an XLG, which is actually two sizes up. At first it fit fine, but I then realized it had a lot of sag around my mid torso and the neck fit rather loose. So I kept the size L. To my surprise, once you get in the riding position, the jacket does not fit tight around the chest anymore! It fits very tapered around your arms and torso with no flapping in the wind, which is one of the features I was looking for. The material performs as described; it takes the edge of the cold, chilly air and the fabric breaths better than just about everything I've worn before. It balls up to the smallest size and weight I've yet seen. So far I'm happy with it. It could be just a hair larger and longer at the waist and i would call it perfect! We will see how durable it is over time.

It Works

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

I had another similar jacket and every time the temperature warmed up a little, I would start to sweat and the sleeves of the jacket would stick to my arms like a raincoat. I hated it. Yes the Blitzfeder jacket is pricey but it works. I put the jacket on today when the temperature was 50 and took it off around 65 and it was warm when I needed it and ventilated when I started to warm up. Highly recommended product. Its has an elastic bottom so it doesn't ride up. The jacket also packs very small into an internal pocket that easily fits in your jersey pocket. In fact I had a lock and the jacket in one jersey pocket with no problem. But like most Assos products, it's cut well, keeps the wind off, ventilates well and does what they say it does. No sweat.

Great jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great layer, very thin but keeps out wind well, packs up great of course.
Fits tightly, and a little short for my liking, I am 5'10 150lbs and it fits tight through the body but loose on the biceps, which flap a little, quietly, on down hills.

Every Ride

I take this jacket or the Blitzfeder vest on every ride I go on. This is a great piece for canyon riding, morning rides, or when you are unsure what the weather is going to do. It easily fits in a back jersey pocket, it is not a rain jacket, but it will keep the wind away and the core warm. If you are looking for a great jacket to add to the gear closet, look no farther. As with all Assos gear, the fabrics used are super nice and the construction is top-notch. Please reach out to me if you have any questions on this or any other Assos piece.

    Amazing Gear

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

This is worth every penny. It feels great, keeps the wind on the outside and it breathes well. It fits perfectly and looks good with any kit. It's still chilly where I live and I've been wearing this every day. The little pocket on the inside by the front zipper seems like such a little thing but it's a really nice feature too. Finally I can put my iPod nano and a little bit of cash in a protected area and not on my back with the snacks.

    Assos, total pro

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: xl

There's a reason it is more pricey than just about anything else out there. Their stuff just straight up works! Pro level gear, buy it nice or buy it twice.
The article of clothing to have when it's raining and you are in a race situation and there is no such thing as a team car to stash your gear or get the needed hand up. Lightweight and easy to put in your pocket. Runs a bit on the small size, I went with an XL for room for additional layers and when my pockets are stuffed for the 6 hour adventure.

    NOT really water "repellent"

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

Good for wind for sure, but not really even water "repellent" as described above. I wore this three times now in very light sprinkle (not even rain), and the water soaks through immediately. My Sportful jersey underneath was soaked within 5 minutes. I had a similar jacket by Endura that took about an hour before the water began to soak in. This one is a disappointment for what I expected... I'll wear it for cold winds, but definitely not for rainy days. Fit is perfect: I am 5'8", 148lbs and 37" chest, 29" waist and size small fits like a glove.

Update: wore it today 36mile ride, no rain, 40 degrees. I didn't sweat much at all, but the moisture from my body condensed inside the jacket and my jersey was soaked after just one hour.... not really breathing that well, apparently.

    blitzfeder jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: xl

great jacket for AZ winters. light enough to compact into a small ball, but great protection against the wind without the normal jacket flapping. also good arm length for tall guys with long arms (36").

    This thing works!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: large

This jacket looks quite underwhelming when you first take it out of the box( incredibly thin, almost fragile). But it is tough,REALLY is packable in your jersey, and blocks wind.
Fit is tight (as in, when you stand straight up it is very restrictive across the chest), but on the bike the fit is perfect with no flapping. Zippers are super high quality and re-enforced.
