Lightweight protection without bulk.

When you're heading out for a cross-state bike tour, loading yourself up with a lock sounds like a burden on both space and weight, but there's no doubt that there will be moments when a lock is needed, whether popping into a cafe for a quick cup of javva, or stopping at a pay shower for a rinse off. The Abus Web Chain 1500 Key Chain Lock offers a bit of security when you have to step away from your steed, with lightweight 4mm chain covered in a nylon sleeve to keep your bike's paint job looking prime. The lock won't claim to be heavy-duty, its actually quite the opposite weighing in at only 280-grams, but it can give you minor protection when you run into the corner store for a few minutes, or lock up your little one's bike at school for the day with peace of mind.

  • A light and easy bike lock for neighborhood jaunts and school days
  • 4mm square chain locks your bike into place
  • Snap closure is easy to use for adults and kids alike
  • Nylon sleeve protects paint job
  • Equipped with two keys so you can keep a backup

Does the job.

I've used it several times

Purchased this simple lock to secure my bike at pit stops, as my hitch-mounted rack lacks built-in cable locks. It's adequate for securing your bike and I haven't had any problems with it. However, seeing it's on the cheaper end of the bike lock spectrum, I wouldn't be leaving your favorite bike with this lock for a lengthy period of time, especially at night. Thieves are notorious for breaking even the toughest of locks and this wouldn't last more than an hour locked up in a big city or high traffic area. It's great for its intended purpose of running into the bathroom with your bike behind your car or locking up a crappy commuter bike before heading into the bar. For anything else, it's best to purchase an actual U-lock or sturdier chain.
