Suspension Top Cap Sockets
Few things are as frustrating as rounding off the soft aluminum top caps on suspension forks or marring the crown. Stop using a crescent wrench or run-of-the-mill sockets and invest in specialty Suspension Top Cap Sockets from Abbey Bike Tools and do the job right. Most sockets have a lead in or chamfer that greatly decreases the contact between the tool and the shallow top caps which can lead to deformation. Many bike shops and suspension service centers will grind down sockets to remove this chamfer in an attempt to improve the grip. This often helps, but unless you can precisely plane the socket down to a level surface, you're left with a tool that still doesn't fit the caps as ideally as it could or should.
Abbey CNC machines these sockets from billet aluminum to exacting tolerances to keep your caps pristine. They feature zero lead in and provide a solid interface while wrenching. A 3/8in square drive works with a multitude of ratchets and torque wrenches and the sockets even feature finger grips to hand-start the top caps on the crown before using a wrench. The height of these sockets is kept at a low 25mm preventing any damage from rocking torque.
The sockets are offered in 6 individual sizes (24, 26, 27, 28, 30, and 32mm) to fit most modern suspension forks on the market.
- Install and remove suspension top caps the right way
- Durable aluminum construction looks great and lasts
- 6 individual sizes fits most modern suspension forks

Appreciate the attention to detail
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This fit my Fox 34 perfectly. After doing a couple swaps I have ocme to really appreciate the machining that allows my sweaty hands to grip the tool so I don't have to rely on the socket wrench. It saves time, and minimizes the risk of tool slippage. Keep it up Abbey, I look forward to an entirely green tool box one day.

No substitute.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Forks today are highly tunable and equally expensive. The last thing you want to do is tool up those beautiful top caps you see every time you get ready to pedal. Even if you don't do air shaft/damper swaps and service, surely you use those tuning abilities the manufacturer provided with the token system. I've been known to change tokens from one trail to the next and without this socket, my air shaft top cap would look and feel like a jagged mess. These sockets are cut to such precision, the fit is undeniable and their design leaves no markings on top caps even in the unlikely event you slip off during max torque. Do yourself a favor, keep your fork mint and your tool bench looking pro in the process.
