The Abbey Bike Tools Campagnolo Crank Lockring Tool belongs in every Campy-equipped shop

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"Running Super Record X on my race build meant I needed a tool that could handle the new lockring interface without any slop, and this one nails it. The axle pilot is the detail that really sets it apart, it keeps the socket perfectly aligned so you're not fighting the tool at all, and the square drive made hitting Campagnolo's torque spec a non-event."

Campagnolo's move to a lockring-retained chainring on the Super Record X and Record 13 power meter cranks introduced a 4-prong interface that has no crossover with older tooling. Abbey Bike Tools stepped in to fill that gap with the Campagnolo Crank Lockring Tool, a dedicated solution machined in Bend, Oregon, from hardened stainless steel and designed from the ground up to work with the geometry of these specific cranksets.

The tool engages all four prongs of the lockring simultaneously and uses the crank axle as a pilot, which eliminates the rocking and misalignment that can occur when a socket isn't properly guided. That pilot-driven engagement is especially important when torquing to spec, since any deflection under load can round the lockring interface over time. The dual drive system addresses this directly: a 19mm or 3/4" box end wrench handles quick installs and removals, while the 3/8" square drive accepts a standard torque wrench for precise final torque in either a shop or a home build context.

For anyone building or servicing a Super Record X single chainring setup or a Record 13 power meter crank, this tool is not optional if you want to do the job correctly. It is the tool Campagnolo chose not to make, handed off to Abbey because their track record of professional-grade tooling speaks for itself.
