Why We Like The Mezcal III G2.0 XC-Trail Tire
Ideal for more technical cross-country courses or tamer trail riding, we use the all-new Mezcal III G2.0 XC-Trail Tire from Vittoria for its fast-rolling and impressive grip over multiple trail surfaces. Its densely packed and low profile knob configuration allows the Mezcal to cover more trail with less effort and its alternating center-ridge tread holds that speed. Cornering, braking, and climbing traction weren't overlooked though, and its numerous effective edges bite hard for impressive grip.
This particular version of the Mezcal is built using Vittoria's XC Trial casing with a 120TPI nylon casing and a reinforced sidewall for added protection on rocky trails and a tubeless-ready folding Aramid bead. Vittoria owns the only extruder in the world that allows for 4 compounds in a single tread which it then fortifies with Graphene 2.0.

Great XC and endurance tire!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Rolls super fast and climbs well. Rode Mezcal F/R in Marji Gesick this year. No flats and plenty of grip.

fast, but not very durable
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
put this tire on and was pleased with performance up until about the 12 mile mark on its maiden voyage when the tire blew out with a cut right in the middle of the tread, okay, crap happens, replaced with brand new tire - the very next weekend about 6 miles in the tire went flat again with a cut in the middle of the tread. For me, this is unacceptable, would never buy this tire again!!! the poor durability screams ride me in the sand where there are no rocks, roots or anything that remotely sharp, because you may need to walk it in, not for me

This tire is an ideal fit for me. Love the 2.35 width. Perfect balance between light weight efficient hardpack roller and a soft grippy single track tire that bites on just about everything. I've used it to test durability twice now on the 350 mile Huracan course in central FL. No complaints at all. It even aired up and grabbed the rim and sealed with a hand pump. A great do it all tire in my book

I went from 2.4 maxxis rekons to 2.35 mezcals. I have been running them for about 5 months now. First thing I notcied was how much faster they rolled compared to the rekons while not sacrificing any of the grippyness. Not great in the slop but are absolute rockets everywhere else. I have had a few punctures due to thorns but nothings stans cant fix. Putting them on was a bit difficult but that is probably due to my skill. Overall a great tire for xc racing and riding.

29 x 2.35 Not True to Size
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
If you want a tire that measures as advertised, dont buy this particular model and size. I have ordered from three different places and came with the same issue. Measured 2.1???, not even 2.2 . I went back to Continentals.

Take my review as a grain of salt, but I put these on a Giant Talon 2 29er with a 21mm Rim. Seem to be a perfect fit. Came from a Maxxis Ikon 2.20 so not a huge size difference but the tread pattern has immediately proved to be a huge benefit. Less slipping on climbs and can feel them digging into the dirt on every corner. I'll also add maybe because of how new they are but now I need to buy some fenders as these things kick dirt/sand up like crazy which lets me know they are doing their job. Went with a "Barzo Mullet" setup, (Mezcal in Back and Barzo in Front) Love the grey sidewalls as well.

Great All-'Rounder
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Awesome, confident tire for mixed terrain -- single-track, rocks, dirt, gravel. (Wouldn't use them if a route involved much pavement.) Easy to mount tubelessly with floor pump and pressing bead in by hand. Held air perfectly. Beefy enough for a loaded bikepacking rig. I sized down from a 3" Bontrager to the 2.6" Mezcal without sacrificing grip or squish, but gained speed and stability/tracking.... these tires go where you point them and grip well whether going up or down.

Rock

I like the round profile because the shape performs well on rock features. I also find these tires hold well on kitty litter type soil, roll smooth and hold up well. Good tire for dry conditions.
