SwissStop Yellow. That's the answer we give when asked about brake pads for carbon rimmed wheels. And it's no secret that wheel manufacturers like Mavic choose SwissStop because they make the best carbon-specific brake pads on the market. In fact, SwissStop Yellow King pads come with Mavic's Carbone Ultimate as standard equipment.

FlashPro means one thing: These are compatible with Shimano and SRAM brake pad holders. To better the performance over the previous Flash pads, the FlashPro has deeper asymmetrical grooves and a more pronounced leading edge profile. The idea is to "squeegee" away more water to improve the wet weather performance and the deeper grooves also help give the pads better modulation. They increased the total pad depth with more material above the wear line -- good news for the carbon rim user as they generally wear pads quicker than alloy rims.

The Yellow King is specifically made for use with carbon fiber rims. They provide unparalleled stopping power in both wet and dry conditions. They give you high durability, quiet braking, and perhaps best of all, excellent stopping power with aluminum rims as well. SwissStop makes it clear that there's no need to swap out pads from carbon-specific to non if you switch wheels from your carbon race-day gems to your aluminum training set. However, we'd recommend always checking your pads and removing aluminum debris before installing your carbon race-day wheels. Any metal flakes embedded in the pads could be disastrous for your composite rims!

SwissStop FlashPro Yellow King brake pads come as a full set. One order gets you 4 pads total -- enough for one bike.

Unanswered Question

Do these work on Zipp carbons and Campy calipers?

Unanswered Question

Can you confirm if there are 2 pads or 4 pads? The description states 4 but title states two.

Great Pads

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are great pads if you are running carbon wheels. Just make sure to look at what the manufacturer of wheels suggest. I have run these on my Mavic wheels and they work awesome!

Good product

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

They are very good with carbon wheels, but with aluminum wheels I would say 7/10 in stop quality ,

Yellow Is The King

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like the Yellow King Pads. I have run the Black Prince in the past and decided to give the Yellow Kings a try.
They are softer - I fee like the Yellow king offers a little more bite than the black prince.
One thing to keep in mind is that they do not move heat as efficiently as the Black Prince Pads, so if you are worried about overheating your rims on a scorching descent, if you tend to ride your brakes, or if you want a slightly longer wearing pad, go with the black prince. If you want a little more stopping power and do not tend to do a lot of descending, or braking while descending, then the Yellow kings do offer a small advantage.

Great product

This brake pads are amazing,I used on carbon and aluminum rims ,they work better than the other shimano I have before , I would recommend.

    Good quality pad

This is my first pad that I am using for new carbon wheels. I have only used them in the dry and they work great. Easy install, no squeal or chattering. Highly recommend.

    Works for me

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used these with my carbon wheels for several years. They seem to work fine and grab predictably in wet and dry. Compared to Reynold blue carbon pad(first gen), these seem a little bit softer. About 3k on these and about half way worn.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is one of the few pads that performed well on my carbon wheels but i could also thrown the alloy training wheels on and still have decent braking. In the wet they are sub par compared to some other options including the black prince pads and cork. Each carbon braking surface is different but if you are looking for a starting point these would be at the top of my list.

These have held up very well over two seasons of cyclocross. They are very predictable in any conditions.

    Know the difference

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The pads work great, they are amazing at what they were designed to do, however, to the excessive brake rider, I would recommend sticking to cork, these pads do not dissipate heat the way cork does and under extreme braking conditions will overheat the carbon braking surface. Buy these brakes if you know and are conscious of this fact, If you tend to forget about the limitations of your wheels, then save yourself the trouble of going thru a lengthy warranty process and simply stick to cork.

    SwissStop Brake Pads (Yellow)

Rocketing down the hill, approaching a sharp 180 degree off-camber left, your fingers tap the hoods of the brakes.

You're cautious, but then again you don't want to lose too much speed on that turn.

The brake pad fade which used to occur is still in your mind. The painful audible memory of screeching pads all too familiar.

      But NO longer.

It's like butter. The SwissStop pads hold onto the carbon rims like any man would hold onto a beautiful redhead. You hold her tightly... never wanting to let go, but you do.... In the back of your mind you think about her, your heart quickens knowing you'll get to hold her again as the next turn approaches.

These SwissStop Yellow brakes pads are phenomenal. The braking control you can exhibit on carbon rims is unlike any thing I've ever felt before.
