Seat Capsule Premio
There used to be a time when we never rode with a saddle
bag—the Rules wouldn't allow it—and we wanted our bikes to look sleek and
having a pack hanging off our saddle isn't exactly pro. But, when the pros are
logging long miles on their training bikes and valuable jersey pocket space is
reserved for food and extra apparel, a bag becomes mandatory. As our own rides
get longer, afforded by more available daylight, and the lure of gravel
exploring creating the very real possibility of multiple flats, we've taken to
rolling with a bag and the Seat Capsule Premio from Silca has become our go-to.
The Seat Capsule Premio uses a BOA Closure System with Rail Guard for grip and protection against the saddle rails and its location is optimized for stability and aerodynamics. It fits right underneath the saddle and never rubs the legs or otherwise interfere with your pedaling. As a bonus, since it only attaches to the rails and not the post's shaft, you can run it with your dropper post without it interfering with its travel.
The thermoformed shell creates structure and has two internal dividers for organization. A YKK locking zipper is positioned low on the bag for easy access while it’s still attached to the saddle. The capsule offers more carrying capacity than the seat roll offerings from Silca with an internal volume of 625cc and can easily hold a 29 x 2.35in or two 700c x 30mm inner tubes along with a set of tire levers, multi-tool, CO2 dispenser, and up to three CO2 cartridges.

- I returned this product before using it
I bought the Primio because it would not interfere with my dropper post. I followed the description that outlined what it could hold. I tried to put my 29.5x 2.4 tube into the bag and it wouldn’t fit. I didn’t even try to add tire levers or cartridges. It would be a nice bag for 700x23-34 tubes perhaps. Also it doesn’t have a place to hang a clip on light. I’ll return the Primio for another model. Compare my photo with the one on the website. It looks good and would be easy to clean.
