Scott's Scale 600 brings trail-capable geometry and hydraulic brakes to young riders
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"As a parent, the hydraulic disc brakes are the first thing I noticed. My kids can actually stop this bike, even on a steep descent or on wet trails. The 8-speed Shimano drivetrain gives them enough range to climb without grinding, and the alloy frame is built to take the abuse that comes with kids learning to ride hard. It's a bike that will last through the learning curve."
Who It's For
Developing riders who need a trail bike that doesn't limit their progression.
The Scale 600 is built for kids who've moved past entry-level riding and want a platform that won't hold them back as their skills develop. The 8-speed drivetrain and hydraulic brakes give them tools to handle varied terrain.
What It's For
Mixed-surface gravel, and light singletrack.
The 26-inch wheel format and 2.2-inch Kenda Booster tires balance rolling speed with enough volume to absorb trail chop. The rigid fork keeps the front end responsive on hardpack and gravel. With a 11-40T cassette range, the Scale 600 climbs well and descends with control.
Why We Like It
Hydraulic disc brakes and a trail-ready drivetrain make this a technical kids' bike.
Scott spec'd the Scale 600 with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes and 160mm rotors front and rear, giving young riders proportional stopping power for the terrain they're riding. The adjustable-reach brake levers mean proper hand position regardless of hand size, which matters for both control and long-term comfort. Shimano Acera RD-M3020 with Double Servo technology shifts cleanly across the 11-40T cassette range, a gearing spread supports both sustained climbs and faster trail sections.
The 6061 alloy frame uses a 68mm threaded BB shell and a fork with IS disc mount, both of which accept widely available replacement parts. Formula DC-19 and DC-25 hubs run on 5x100mm and 5x135mm quick-release axles, respectively, with 32-hole lacing to alloy rims. The Syncros Future Pro saddle and size-specific cockpit round out a build calibrated for smaller riders without compromising capability.
Heads up! We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning, and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.
