Get the age-group win.
Every second counts in a tri, but speed is arguably the most important on the bike leg. Average a few tenths of a mile per hour slower than the rider you're chasing and it'll add up in the end. Whether you're upgrading from aluminum or just diving into the world of aerobars, clip-ons like Profile Design's T5+ Aero Handlebars keep setup simple with a focus on high-performance and customization. Add them to your race setup to get your road bike on an even playing field with the tri bikes — and riders — you'll be competing against.
The T5 is made using vibration-dampening carbon throughout the basebars and extensions to give you a lighter, less jarring ride. Almost completely straight, the aggressive extensions include a slight 15 degree ski -bend at the end for more comfortable hand positioning, and use a single-bolt system to keep length and rotation adjustments straightforward. The brackets, Profile Design's patent-pending J4 model, are constructed with 6061-T6 aluminum and work as part of an in-line wedge system that aims to improve aerodynamics.
The padded F-35a aluminum armrests take a cue from the other adjustable components on the T5+, and were designed with three fore/aft positions, 30mm of adjustment, and 15 degrees of rotation for fine-tuning the fit throughout your racing season. These clip-on bars will fit onto handlebars with either a 26.0mm or 31.8mm diameter, and weigh about 575g.
