What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"On the Ripley V5, you immediately feel how well the kinematics are tuned. It pedals almost like a short-travel race bike, but the added travel and slacker head angle make a noticeable difference on rougher sections. I really appreciate how neutral the handling feels at speed—centered, predictable, plenty of front-wheel bite. The Transmission drivetrain is rock solid, and the Ibis 933 wheels track cleanly through choppy lines. It’s a super-capable trail rig that rides lighter than its numbers suggest."
The Ripley V5 stands at the crossroads of modern trail geometry, advanced suspension engineering, and real-world versatility, delivering a platform that thrives in varied terrain. Its combination of 130mm rear and 140mm front travel is anchored by the DW-Link system, providing impressive climbing efficiency while offering a smooth, supportive feel on fast descents and rocky lines. With Ibis reworking the reach, angles, and size range, this version of the Ripley positions riders in a balanced, centered stance that enhances traction, cornering, and control across all sizes.
Technical refinements support that tuned ride feel. The flip chip opens up MX compatibility, offering sharper cornering and a more playful rear end for riders who want added maneuverability. A threaded bottom bracket, UDH compatibility, 2.5-inch tire clearance, and the new internal storage system highlight durability and practical trail-focused design. The included Cotopaxi storage bags add functional organization inside the frame, keeping weight compact and protected.
On the trail, the Ripley V5 feels light on its feet and ready for speed. The Fox Factory SL 36 fork brings stiffness and sensitivity ideal for technical singletrack, while the Float rear shock delivers excellent mid-stroke support. SRAM’s Eagle Transmission ensures consistent shift performance even under power, and the Maxxis tire setup blends grip with fast-rolling traction. The Ripley excels on rolling terrain, technical climbs, and tight, flowy sections—perfect for riders who want efficiency without sacrificing capability.

Adventure Awaits

Size-Specific Everything
Every rider deserves the same ride feel. Size-specific seat tube angles, suspension kinematics, chainstay length, and bottom bracket height keep the Ripley balanced and fast across all frame sizes.

5 Sizes
With 80% of riders between 5'5" and 6'0", Ibis introduced a new Extra-Medium (size 3) for a more precise fit. The Ripley now offers five sizes to better match rider proportions.

Flip It
A flip chip lets riders run 29" wheels or a mixed 29"/27.5" MX setup without compromising geometry. The Ripley ships with 29" wheels.

DW-Link Suspension
The dw-link suspension platform delivers efficient climbing and confident descending. Size-specific kinematics keep every frame size pedaling efficiently while staying smooth on rough trails.

Internal Frame Storage
Carry tools and snacks inside the frame with a water-resistant, rattle-free storage system. The easy-to-use latch works even with gloves in cold or muddy conditions. Includes two Cotopaxi-made storage bags crafted from remnant materials.

Built To Fly
Ibis Cycles started in 1981 when founder Scot Nicol opened a tiny workshop near Mendocino, California, with no big plan beyond building mountain bikes that were fun to ride and tough enough for the rough stuff. Today, from its home base in Santa Cruz, Ibis remains a small, rider-owned company focused on doing a few things really well: designing carbon and aluminum mountain bikes that climb efficiently, descend playfully, and feel lively every time you point them down the trail. With long-time owners and in-house engineering still deeply involved in the day-to-day, the brand stands for bikes that are light, durable, and above all, a blast to ride—whether you are racing, lapping local trails, or just chasing that next perfect corner.
