Free Aero Race 4 Bib Short
Castelli claims that while its women's clothing is typically designed from the ground up for, well, women, the Free Aero Race 4 Bib Short is designed specifically for racing. That being said, it's built using minimalist construction, one that focuses on aerodynamics and also comfort, as racing requires long hours in the saddle, both during training and on race day. It features some new details making subtle improvements over its already best-selling short.
It uses a new leg gripper that still features a lie-flat raw-cut edge but now has vertical silicone stripes to keep it in place without restricting stretch. New fabrics allow for better print quality and Castelli also updated the seams to improve the fit and give the short an even better look. It also re-engineered the bib straps with new fabrics and construction so you stay cooler and it lies flatter and is more durable. Final updates include a new Progetto X2 Air Seamless insert and its one of the softest surface fabrics we've ever felt in a chamois.
- Aero bib short for helping you go fast on race day
- Vortex dimpled fabric on legs boost the aero performance
- Forza fabric on the inner legs create the perfect fit
- Stripe mesh engineered lie-flat bib strap construction keeps you cool
- Giro4 leg gripper elastic distribute grip over a larger area
- Doppio V construction in front offers increased comfort
- Flat-lock stitching reduces irritation
- Progetto X2 Air Seamless Donna women's-specific seat insert offers long ride comfort

Way too small
- Fit:
- Runs small
I ordered these in an XL since that is the largest size they make these in. I couldn't get them past my knees! I also have a Sugoi bib in the XL size that fits great so i think Castelli must just run very small. I noticed other reviews said fits small but I have to add fits "really small." I'm sure this is a great bib if you just make sure you get the right size...

nice and comfortable fit, but go up one size. I usually wear a small, but returned it for a medium

I followed recommendations and went a size up my usual size in Us shorts (Medium) and went for a large. It fit perfectly! It looks great, the shammy is super soft and thick, plus the bib straps are not too thick or tight (so feels very comfortable). Was so excited about these that I reviewed it after first use... but will update my review after multiple uses! Totally worth the investment!

These are my first pair of $150+ cycling shorts, and it took me a while to decide to make the investment. The difference is noticeable! Overall, these bib shorts feel well-made. They are made of a smooth fabric that gives a sleek look (a little bit of effort to put them on, but not too bad) and provide a frictionless feel while in the saddle. Can't complain about the chamois either. Seams are sturdy. Also, I loved that I could order a different color than black! For my particular moment in cycling, this represents money well-spent.

I'm tall (6'0) with larger hips/thighs. I usually wear a size large in Castelli bibs which is what I purchased. These bibs were harder pull over my hips because they seem to taper in at the waist but once they're on they fit and feel great. I've gone on long rides on the road and put in 1 to 2 hour rides on the trainer little to no saddle discomfort. I'm not giving 5 stars because I've only own these bibs for a few months and already the Castelli logo is peeling off of back leg.

These are a little hard to get on - and I am sort of between a small and medium for most brands - so I tried the medium. But once I got them on they were unbelievably comfortable and I took my longest ride yet! I have tried Rapha and Pearl Izumi bibs, with Pearl Izumi definitely a close 2nd, but the construction and fabric of these Castelli bibs really kept my legs feeling fresh. You almost don't feel them once they are on! The chamois is the most cushioned and comfortable I have ever tried. I am 5'7, 122 lbs with a longish torso which makes for a close fit as far as the straps are concerned, but they did not pull once I got on my bike. Am looking for another pair but will wait 'til they go on sale!
