Cool Weather

Shoulder Season Apparel

Shoulder season success takes just a few extra layers to keep you warm and riding strong in mild conditions. For fast group rides, consider arm warmers, knee warmers, and a vest for rapid adjustment at speed. For longer rides at lower intensities, opt for a long-sleeve jersey, vest, and leg warmers. A neck gaiter and long-fingered gloves are easy-to-pocket comforts as well.

Winter Season Apparel

In deeper winter conditions, your ride success depends on interior comfort and exterior protection. Start with a quality base layer and thermal bibs/leg warmers, or tights. Then add a fleece-lined mid layer to insulate the core, followed by heavily insulated gloves to keep your hands comfortable. Next, choose a dedicated, wind-blocking winter jacket with long cuffs and a tall neck to keep crisp air away from your torso as you get up to speed. Neck gaiters, caps, and shoe covers are good to bring along and stow easily into jersey/jacket pockets.

Wet Weather

Wet Weather Apparel

Wet and cold air is more punishing than any terrain on your route. With the right layers, however, you can still have a great ride under cloudbursts or all-day downpours.

Suit up with base layers and tights that help thermoregulate and repel water, breathable mid layers that provide heat without bulk, and packable, as well as ride-long, outer layers that block the wind and rain, while letting the sweat out.
