Brooks, redefined.

Forgoing the leather hammock construction that made the Brooks brand iconic, its new C17 Cambium Saddle opts instead for a natural rubber base, topped with an organic cotton cover. The resulting saddle has the comfort you’ve come to expect from Brooks, in a vegan-friendly package that’s strikingly modern.

The base of the C17 Cambium is built from natural gum rubber, which has a comfortable spring, and naturally dampens vibration. This is especially important for a saddle bearing the Brooks name, as the smooth ride of the brand’s leather saddles sets an incredibly high bar for the C17 Cambium to match. The cover is a treated organic cotton canvas, which resists the elements and softens with miles, yielding an incredibly comfortable ride feel. The two layers are vulcanized, forming them into a single piece that will remain intact for the life of the saddle. This shell rests on die cast aluminum blocks and tubular steel rails, which maintain the shape of the saddle.

This being the men's version, it has a standard-length nose, which accommodates a range of body types. The 162mm tail width offers generous support for those with medium-width sit bones. It’s a bit wider than typical racing saddles, which many riders find more comfortable for longer durations in the saddle.

The Brooks C17 Cambium Saddle - Men's is available in one size and in the colors Natural and Slate.

Perfect Saddle for Gravel Racing

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought the C17 over a year ago for my gravel racing bike. I wanted the comfort for ultra marathon events and the weather resistance for the rain and mud that seems to come with every race. I've put well over 10,000 miles on this saddle without any problems or discomfort -- ever. I rode the Dirty Kanza 200 on this saddle and, when I got off the bike, my backside was the only part of me that didn't hurt. My backside felt as if I hadn't been on the bike at all -- no pain, no numbness, no residual sense of having sat on a bike. And the saddle has been completely maintenance free. GREAT saddle!

Love it

Put this on my hard tail MTB and I love it! I can feel just enough flex to make it that much more comfortable.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While it isn't the most technological saddle on the market, this Brooks is comfy and classy for your rig! I am pretty picky when it comes to saddles, but I wanted to keep a classical look on my touring rig when I set it up, and this one has fit the bill. Also, the great part is, that there is no crazy maintenance or break in period like other classic brooks!

This saddle looks amazing. Will make good bike and turn it into an awesome bike. I will admit that for me this isn't as comfortable as the b17. They say one of the benefits of this saddle is that you don't have to break it in like the leather ones. That may be true, but unlike the leather ones which get more comfortable over time this one stays the same. Don't get me wrong. This is a comfortable saddle, just doesn't work for me as well as the b17, especially on those longer mileage days.

Put it on my bikepacking bike and it bumped up the cool factor by at least 7 points. Nice thing is you don't have to worry about it getting wet like the leather saddles. Also don't need to worry about adjusting the tension. This thing is a lot lower maintenance. The fabric top does seem to cause more wear on my shorts than other saddles. I do wear normal shorts though and not lycra.

The slate color isn't as dark as I was hoping. It has turned into a brownish color with use. Still looks good, just not black like I was hoping it would be.

All in all a good saddle and the perfect way to complete a custom build or add some style to any bike.

Perfect for Cross.

I have been using this saddle on my cross bike for the last six months and I could not be more in love with it. The saddle is the most comfortable saddle I have ever had and the fact that it is a Brooks Saddle without leather makes me a happy vegan.

    My favorite saddle

I have this on my SS 29er, and it's absolutely perfect. Unlike a leather Brooks, I don't have to worry about mud, rain, or anything else. The best part, though, is the already-broken-in aspect of this saddle. Instead of riding a rigid leather saddle for a few thousand miles until it's perfect, the Cambium comes out of the box perfect. It definitely takes the edge off medium-sized bumps that tire volume alone won't swallow on a hardtail, and it's just as comfortable as can be. It's heavy, to be sure, but I'm happy to trade comfort for weight when it comes to saddles.
