BlackburnOutpost Top Tube Bag

Outpost Top Tube Bag
Made of super-tough 4D ripstop nylon, the Blackburn Outpost Top Tube bag is well-made and cleverly designed. The adjustable straps accommodate nearly any frame, and once it's on board, it can accommodate nearly anything else that fits. The interior has a repositionable and removable partition to help you stay organized, and on the outside are two pockets: one mesh for a phone or camera, and another zippered for a wallet or other valuables. The red color of the lining ensures you won't lose small parts that may get loose inside.

Not for new mtn bikes
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
With modern mountain bikes, many times you want to carry gear, but you don't want it all on your back. This pack is an option to reduce the amount of stuff you carry on your back. It is pretty useful, but I find the bag to not fit new mountain bikes super well due to its large size.

Maybe for a mountain bike
On my road bike, the rear of the bag was only a few inches forward of my saddle. Letâs just say stopping would have been problematic. On the plus side, it has good storage and appears well made.

Bigger than I was hoping

I bought this bag so I could avoid carrying a bag on shorter rides. This bag is well thought out and has plenty of space for anything you might want to carry with you. it also seems to be a high quality bag. I only have one complaint so far, and that is that I now notice that I like to rest my legs on the side of my frame and I always find myself hitting this bag. I guess I should blame the rider more than the bag, but I feel like a smaller bag would get rid of this problem. Besides that, everything is great!

I use this to hold tubes, wallet and keys. It has a nice hook attachment for your key ring. It also provides easy access to food. through the side pockets and the to mesh pocket. Attaches securely without and issue. I am using this with a Niner RLT RDO.

Does not fit on all frames
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I was really excited to be able to use this bag as I am a huge fan of on the bike storage. The quality and craftsmanship seems top notch. The downside is that the velcro straps might not be large enough to fit around all top tubes as i had to return the bag due to it not fitting on my frame.

satchel that does it all

Great for easy access. Didn't mess up the paint job on my bike. Solid straps, they are not going anywhere. Holds a tube, gels, bars, phone credit card, ID and a few more small items. Kept stuff dry in a nasty storm. Totally worth it if your bike-packing or commuting.

Became a permanent fixture on my bike...
I've got 3 different brands of top tube bag--size wise the blackburn is in the middle with regards to volume--meaning I can get a phone, keys, snacks, gum, chapstick, sunscreen and/or wallet in there. The attachment straps allow versatility in placement so you can almost be certain to avoid cable mounts (not terribly important for function but could impact long term durability) and/or frame bag velcro (deal breaker for bikepack setups). I'm to the point I'm leaving these permanently on my bike as I often do short rides without a backpack and this allows me to secure important/valuable/handy things without stuffing in short or jersey pockets. Blackburn, undoubtedly building on the innovation/risk taken by the small bike bag makers that came before them, did this product well. Your legs may rub the bag when maneuvering the frame in tight spaces but it doesn't interrupt pedaling.

Large, but does the job
- Familiarity:

This bag is too big for my small Niner MCR. My knees pads bump against it about 20% of the time. I thought it would drive me up the wall, but after about 30 mins of riding I stopped noticing it. Additionally, the velcro straps that wrap the top tube are too big for my bike. They hang a little loose, but the bag seems to stay put ok. I like how modular the strapping system is. You can move all the straps around to fit the bag to your stem and cable routing on your top tube. My Sony RX100, Freshette, phone, and Cliff Bar fit in the bag comfortably.

Top Tubular!

Great size. Fits bike tools and some snacks. Hook and loop straps make it easy to mount and keep it secure. Straps are long enough to fit small diameter steel tubes or larger aluminum or carbon frames. Large main pocket with adjustable divider. You can put the divider in any position or location you want. Top mesh pocket and a small pocket on each side, one with a zipper one with an open top. Makes it easy to keep things organized. the zipper for the pocket allows the whole top flap to open so you can find what you are looking for. Pretty easy to open on the go. So far so good. Make sure to put some kind of protection on your frame. Even though the straps are rubberized they might mar up your frame.

Is that width measured at the top where it is wide or at the bottom where it is narrow?
