Aerodynamic wheel development has converged around a clear principle in recent seasons: rim depth means nothing without the internal architecture to support it, and the Vision SC60 i23 Carbon TL Wheelset is built with that understanding at its core. The 60mm full carbon rim delivers the sustained momentum and crosswind stability that define a true aero road wheel, but the evolution of the SC60 platform begins at the rim bed, where Vision has widened the internal diameter to 23mm to address the fundamental shift toward wider tire pairings in performance road riding.

The 23mm internal width unlocks the aerodynamic potential of 28 to 32mm tires by allowing the tire casing to assume a proper rounded profile rather than the lightbulb shape that results from mounting a wide tire on a narrow rim. The result is a more stable handling character through corners, improved contact patch geometry under load, and a system-level aerodynamic efficiency that accounts for how tire and rim interact as a unified assembly rather than treating them as separate variables. Tubeless-ready clincher construction supports this pairing directly, enabling lower pressures that further optimize the contact patch and reduce rolling resistance on varied road surfaces.

At the hub, Vision drew directly from its flagship Metron program to develop the new PRS hub with a 54-tooth ratchet engagement system. The tighter engagement interval reduces the rotational dead band between coasting and power application, delivering the immediacy at the pedals that riders feel most acutely when re-accelerating out of technical corners, responding to attacks, or opening a sprint from a reduced pace. Six sealed cartridge bearings — two at the front, four at the rear — support smooth rotation and long-term durability across varied conditions, while 2:1 aero bladed spoke lacing distributes tension asymmetrically to account for the drive-side load differential at the rear wheel, improving stiffness and power transfer efficiency without adding rotational weight. Fully hand-built by Vision's wheel technicians, the SC60 i23 is compatible with Shimano, Shimano MicroSpline, and SRAM freehub standards, covering the full range of current drivetrain platforms for riders building or upgrading at any level of the performance road market.
