Sitting with cool confidence and authority atop SRAM's Guide line, the Guide RSC (B1) Disc Brake represents the best of the Guide hydraulic disc family, offering Lever reach adjustment, SRAM's new SwingLink lever design, and Contact point adjustment capability — abbreviated to create to the RSC distinction.

The Guide RSC's SwingLink levers are one of the biggest features setting it apart from its more straightforward siblings. SRAM designed them to react faster and with less force than earlier brakes, reducing the size of the lever "deadspot" with a new cam design. You'll feel more in-control as you whip around a corner and squeeze the levers to stay in control over a burly rock garden, and as soon as you do engage the levers, an efficient cup-seal timing port closes the port to pressurize the system and force the pads to the rotor for perfect, immediate modulation. SRAM also made the contact point easy to access, just behind the lever attachment to the master cylinder, so you can dial in the right feel for the brakes without having to perform complex mechanics.

SRAM pairs the Guide RSC with its powerful 4-piston, dual 14- and 16mm diameter caliper, built with its Bleeding Edge technology to ensure fluid passes easily through it for a more efficient bleeding process. Once you're done, a specifically-adapted S4 bleed adapter sits in the bleed port and guards the system against air contamination and fluid loss. The caliper comes with SRAM's steel-backed organic pads, whose forged aluminum construction promises long-term durability, with easy pad removable via a top-loading design.

Please note that compatible Centerline rotors are sold separately, with the Guide RSC (B1) Disc Brake coming as a Front/left or Rear/right lever and caliper configuration. Additionally, the lever assembly is Matchmaker-compatible, which allows you to run your various controls cleanly from a single lever clamp.

Best brakes ever

    Guide brakes have always been my favorite. Even on hot days while riding the brakes on gnarly downhill, they still keep their power. The adjustable contact point on these are great as well. Get these over any other brakes

    Moar Pistons? Yas Pls!

    Sorry for the title.... The SRAM Guide RSC brakes are quite the revelation after the last time I ran on brakes from SRAM (Avid Juicy 5s, not the best). The 4 pistons give great stopping power though it comes at a different feel which works if you know about it. I've now been on SRAM and Shimano brakes semi-extensively and I can say for sure that Shimano can have more immediate bite and stopping if needed though the squeeze to get it requires a ton of force while the Guides are more progressive and don't kill your speed as fast. If you are used to killing speed fast then either bleed these super tight or know to moderately brake more often in rougher terrain. It should sound like a negative, but it isn't as it makes you feel more proficient in your riding to approach things this way as long as you know that this is how you should approach your braking.

    The only thing that I find is that the XTR brake levers are way more applicable to how my hands are shaped but this could be more personal preference. If you have the bankroll, get on these now.

    Brake later!

    After getting bikes that come spec'd with other brakes (XT and SRAM Level), I immediately swap to these. The modulation allows me to brake later into turns and technical descents, keeping my speed up. If you want an on/off feel, then go with the Shimano XT's. If you like to take off a touch of speed at a time, then these are for you! The bleeding procedure is super easy, unlike previous SRAM brakes.

    These will give you the confidence to let them go through that rowdy rock garden because you know you will be able to stop on the other side. I've had 4 sets on the past 4 bikes. wouldn't get anything else.

    Are fantastic. Great feel to the lever, adjustable pull, and excellent stopping power. My only gripe with these brakes is I wish the lever was slightly shorter. Other than that, no complaints.

    Stop on A Dime

    Increased stopping power and four pistons. You cant go wrong with these brakes. I ride a lot of steep loose downhills and these bad boys have more then enough braking power. They give me the extra confident I need to take the corners a little faster.

    Great brakes, awesome modulation

    Over my last few bikes, I have gone back and forth between these and Shimano XT.
    The Guides have amazing modulation and all of the adjustments actually do something. I absolutely love the feel of them.
    But they do not have quite as much power as the XT's. So it is a bit of a toss-up.
    Going forward, I'd probably just match the brakes to the rest of the build, as they are both amazing brakes

    I'm in the process of building up my third bike with SRAM Guides. They provide exceptional stopping power with great lever feel. As Luke mentioned in his review, the B1 update is a solid improvement on an already great brake design. They're incredibly reliable, and bleeding them is pretty straightforward. I'm also a big fan of the reach / contact adjustment which allows me to set them up exactly how I want them.

    I love these brakes. I have them on all 3 of my mountain bikes and love the way the feel. These are not you Elixirs. They have a lot of stopping power when bombing down descents with a great feel. They are very reliable and durable. I use the Guides even on my cross country bikes, because I like the extra stopping power the the 4 piston calipers.

    I was a die hard Shimano fan for a while, but always found their initial brake bite a bit jarring and sudden, which prevented feathering of the brakes coming into corners or through techy sections. Then these came out, they have way more modulation while keeping the same amount of power you get from Shimano. The update of the B1 version adds the same caliper that the guide ultimates have, which gives a lower friction piston seal and increased air flow around the pads which reduces heat. I definitely would recommend these brakes on any bike, they are a worthy upgrade.

    I personally dont use them often. But when I do its becasue I have too. 4 pistons really come in handy when you are barreling down the trail and didnt see that hairpin turn at the bottom. Rarely do I wish I had more braking power. these brakes are great bang for the buck.
