Item # LEG0002

Sportlegs Capsules are good for anyone who likes riding fast or climbing hard or both. The special ingredient is lactate—just like the lactate your body produces. Conventional Wisdom once postulated that lactate was bad for legs, but now it seems that some is good. Lactate here is supposed to work as a buffer to slow down other adverse chemical reactions that will really slow you down. The lactate from Sportlegs tricks your body into thinking it doesn't need to make more.

Sportlegs allows you to pre-load the lactate so your body doesn't feel the burn so soon. But there isn't a complicated or long multi-day loading protocol. Just take one capsule for every 50 pounds of body weight an hour before you are going to exercise. That's two capsules for a 100 pounder, three for 150, and so on (if you're in between, they suggest rounding up). The capsules dissolve and get to work. Sportlegs has plenty of advocates in the peloton, and those people suggest reloading with a dose every three hours if riding easy or every two hours if racing.

The formula is patented. The company doesn't allow any substances on the World Anti-Doping Association's (WADA) prohibited list into their manufacturing facilities, so you won't be able to use Sportlegs as your excuse if you ever test positive. The main ingredients are lactate compounds of calcium and magnesium with vitamin D. These ingredients are gluten-free and dairy-free. The bottle comes with 120 capsules.

  • Scientifically-developed compound capsules for more energy on bike
  • Naturally-sourced European lactate compounds add to lactic acid
  • Feel the difference in your performance an hour after your first dose

Prevent leg cramps on long rides

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Started taking these last year on a recommendation from a fellow rider and always take them on longer rides than an hour. Have to take a lot of them on a long ride, 1 capsule per 50 lbs every 2 hours, but it does prevent cramps for me. I use them on hilly centuries and longer rides and have not had any cramps this year.

So far so good!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I decided to give these a go after hearing positive reviews from a few friends and getting fed up with my delayed recovery time as well as constant post workout leg cramps. I have only tried these for about a week now, but I have found my recovery time has already improved and the muscle cramps have subsided. I am hopeful this could be a great solution for my busy summer activities ahead.

Do Sports? Have Legs?

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I normally don't need these until riding season starts and I know the first few longer rides are going to be brutal. Recently I took these on a fully loaded self supported bikepacking trip on the Black Canyon Trial (AZ). I didn't ride very much up until the trip and knew there would be some painful climbs, I took these with and they worked great. I took a few of these per hour on some gnarly climbs and was able to turn those cranks with ease. I also emptied the capsules into a water-bottle to help dissolve into my body quickly (had little to no taste) mixed with some Scratch Labs. No cramps at all on the trip!

These totally work. End of story.

I tested them myself and with friends and everyone reported very little fatigue, even after a day of heavy skinning and skiing. Some pain is good, obviously, to prevent over use of your muscles, but these made it far more manageable.

Use as directed and stock up!

Helped Me to MY Biggest Week Ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I weigh 182 so I take 4 pills a half hour before riding. I wanted to top my best weekly ride total this past week. I believe that Sport Legs helped me accomplish my goal. The week was hard, with some fast work and a lot of climbing on other days. The fatigue and burn was definitely minimized. As an experiment, I have ridden for two weeks without Sport Legs in the past and there is no doubt that the rides were harder.

Science for the win

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Upon first reading about this product I was not convinced that it would actually work... I was certainly wrong. I am a firm believer in these now and keep them around from long rides, backpacking trips, and peak baggin. A worthy item to keep around in your riding bag or to bring on every biking trip.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Really helps when you want to pump out that extra few miles.

My Go-To Competitive Supplement

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Definitely makes a difference with me as leg aches and cramps are buffered noticeably. Try to use it in events and high intensity only

They Worked

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Tried these during some high intensity interval training and they seemed to help with prying out that last bit of extra effort from my legs. They worked well enough in training that I've taken them into my regular race routine, with great results. They're totally worth the try if you're looking for that extra edge!

Really helpful

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these for longer rides or really hot rides, or if I'm doing a lot of riding over a few days and I need my legs to keep up with me. Same goes for a big ski trip. Take a few of these before heading out, and my legs feel fresher a lot longer

good first impressions

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've used these on a couple longer training bike rides and throughout the bike leg in a half ironman... felt great (until the run, but i wasn't taking them during that leg) and will use again!

I'm not going to lie, I spend weeks with this item on my wish list before I actually bought it. At first I just wasn't sure about it. There are just so many supplements out there that make amazing promises but usually fall short!! But not this one!! last week I did a 55 mile ride before I had this product and during the last 10 miles I wanted to cry every time I saw a hill in front of me!! It was a new route for me. After taking 4 pills (I'm 188lbs, not the lightest guy) I did the same ride and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face!!! my legs were not sore, no cramps, and when I got home I didn't have a problem going up 3 sets of stairs!!! I will most definitely use it before every 50+ rides!!!

Trust me, I'm a scientist

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I found out about Sportlegs because my mother who runs long distances every weekend and races every other month swears by these. It seems to make the difference between being able to do a long run or bike with less pain and without (as much of) the feeling of wanting to stop after several miles because your legs just don't want to go any more. If you're wanting to try something new to take your workout to the next level, it's a small price to pay to find out for yourself. You don't have to take it every time you run or bike, just when you know you're wanting to go the extra mile. Because you're not taking it all the time you probably don't have to worry about your body doing something weird with it.

live cramp free :)

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After many a long 100+ mile rides and getting cramps, even though properly hydrated - I have found that these little dudes keep the cramps away! One/two pre-ride, then one/two every 30 miles - swig it down with your liquid of choice. Totally legit and highly recommended for those hot days or long ride days. Haven't noticed a change in my voice, any appendages changing size or shape - so no worries ;)

live cramp free :)

Actually work

Great for those occasions where you will be pushing a muscle group to its limits. For instance, it will help with the arm pump when riding downhill all day, and doubly so if you are climbing back up to the top yourself.

    Decrease the burn

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Works well for long-distance rides. I can definitely tell when I forget to take them as I can push harder and longer. Also helps with recovery and not aching after a day of crushing it.

    nice supplement

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I like this product. It does seem to help dissipate lactic acid buildup and i found it works best when you are very hydrated. I have noticed a difference in my climbing and definitely recommend this product.
